He perfectly understood the uncontrolled anger that was reflected in Elisa's eyes. After a three-hour meeting with Luis and all the departments, he didn't think he would have to get to another, which was possibly worse than the previous one. Jose tried to warn him, but the phones were banned and the option to interrupt was completely out of the question.

Alex took a sip of the tea that Jose gave him at the entrance of his office, rolled his guest's chair to his desk, and collapsed on his reclining chair. He hadn't said anything after Elisa's first recrimination. So after a few seconds, he replied quietly, "Back to the same. All this can be stopped."

"And it stopped!" said Elisa, raising her voice to the extent that could avoid drawing attention. "But my mother calls me and tells me that the wedding still stands. What happened?"

"Nothing. Just what happens when a couple decides to take the next step."

"But what the fuck is wrong with you? You're playing with my sister!"

"All this has a solution, and you know what it is."

Tension was brewing outside Alex's office. Alvaro had been following the scene for some minutes. The woman looked familiar to him, but he couldn't remember from where he knew her. What was obvious was that Alex and her seemed to know each other very well. Without realizing it, he caught the attention of Jose, who approached trying to distract him from the scene he could easily observe—thanks to the glass walls of the office.

"Alvaro, can I help you?" said Jose.

"No, thanks. Who's the lady? Her face rings a bell."

"Nobody to interest you. You, go back to work!" he reprimanded the group that was approaching, attracted by curiosity. "And you should go too!" he pointed to Alvaro, who kept his eyes on the woman.

Before he could leave, the mysterious woman got up and left Alex's office, walking towards Alvaro and Jose. Then, the man realized and the words came out almost involuntarily.

"Elisa Monte Negro."

Alvaro took several steps. Jose tried to avoid the meeting, but it was impossible.

"Mrs. Monte Negro."

"Mrs. Monte Negro is my mother. People call me Elisa," she corrected, trying to regain her calm after leaving Alex's office.

"Elisa, I couldn't help notice you speaking with Mr. Baeza. I suppose you have come to discuss the details..." Alvaro made a slight imperceptible pause, trying to notice any change in the woman, "of my colleague's wedding with your sister." There it was. The tension that these words created in Elisa's demeanor made all her senses alert.

What was he seeing? How could he interpret what he had just seen? He couldn't risk letting his imagination fly, so he tried to find out more. But the perspectives seemed better than ever. Alvaro tried to continue the conversation, but Elisa's eyes were drawn away to the young man approaching down the hall. Her rage was gone, and there was something different in the woman's eyes. Maybe tenderness?

The young man passed by and didn't seem to notice Elisa's presence, who was being watched by Alvaro. Her interest in the young man only increased his curiosity.

"Diego." As soon as she uttered his name, the young man stopped and looked at her.

"Excuse me, do I know you?"

Alex left his office and joined the small group in front of it. When Diego saw him, he explained the situation. But Alex forced him into his office without letting Diego find out how he knew the woman.
