My breathing was getting shallow, and I could barely breathe inside my small metal box. I was still trying to get lose from my bindings, but the effort I was putting forth wasn’t even close to the effort I had started out with. I was exhausted, and I couldn’t really even move any more. My face was soggy with tears and my throat was dry and itchy from yelling. I took a deep breath in as my eyes closed and sleep tugged at my insides. Before I knew it, I was dreaming of him. I saw Riddick standing across a field and no matter how fast I tried to run I couldn’t get to him.
A large fence that was wired with electricity sparked with danger and crackled like lighting. I was running through the tall grass, feeling the itch that slapped my bare legs. I yelled his name, but he didn’t seem to hear me. His back faced me, and he wasn’t paying attention to me; he didn’t even seem to be worried about me. I yelled his name again and tripped against something on the ground. I looked up at him as someone approached him and he took her into his arms. I put my head down in defeat and turned around to see what I had tripped on.
At my feet was the head of a dead wolf. I pulled my legs close to me and wrapped around myself. I looked at the wolf’s body and rocked back and forth, not knowing what to do. I crept forward and reached out a hand and drifted my fingers over the grey and black ears of the animals. They were hard and lifeless, and fly’s started to buzz around it. The animals tongue was out, pale and gooey. Its eyes were open, and that’s when I noticed the odd color of them. Instead of the orange quality mine possessed they were green. My eyes widen as I examined the body farther. There was a single bangle around one of its front paws. A bangle my father had given to my mother when I was conceived. It was my mother.
My eyes shot open as I was pulled out of the metal box and looked up at men in white uniforms with the Injecco symbol on their helmets. I heard a man’s voice echo through an intercom. “Be careful with her boys.” It said, and I recognized it as the man that had pulled me out the first time—the man that had put me in here. They grabbed ahold of the metal handles near my shoulders and feet and lifted me off of the hard platform that held me inside of the steel box. I rocked slightly as the moved me toward a gurney. They placed me on top of it and strapped me to it at as well.
I rocked more violently now as they rolled me off of the ship. I looked up at the dark sky as water droplets started to fall from the clouds and hit me in the face. I closed my eyes, and was happy for them for they hid the tears that were sliding from my eyes. It was ironic how on a day like this I escaped their clutches, only to be returned just the same. I was rolled over a hump as a loud buzzer went off and the rustling of gate chains sounded in my ears. They pushed me through the gates and I heard again as they started to shut.
I was moved even closer to the building, though I had seen much more of the inside than I had of the outside, so it didn’t really look very familiar. One of the men left my side and pulled an ID from his pocket and the same buzzer sounded again. They rolled me over another hump as they moved me inside. My heart was thumping, and I’m sure if anyone looked at my chest they would be able to see my chest moving up and down. I started to pull at my restraints knowing that it would be useless and, of course, one of my transports reminded me that escape was futile.
I turned my head and looked around. I had never been in this room before. It was a room with a lot of people walking around with test tubes and cleaning supplies. There were hallways that went in every direction and we started to roll by a woman behind a barred up desk that was steadily typing on a computer. She looked up slightly at me as the man that had put me here walked up and flashed his ID. The woman didn’t hesitate and buzzed us in. “He wants her sanitized and placed into her old robes.” She said as she typed into a computer and the door that blocked off one of the hallways buzzed and popped open. “Last door on the left.” She added. I couldn’t see her very clearly, but her voice sounded somewhat familiar.
