After another long half an hour just playing with cats, Alice finally got up and went downstairs to make herself some cereal because let's face it, playing with cats can be rather exhausting sometimes. They just won't stop moving, or they just won't move! They are always either fast asleep or running around like idiots.

She slumped down on the couch with her hamster bowl (ironic) filled with Lucky Charms and milk. She flicked through the TV channels but nothing good was on, so she just left it on Jeremy Kyle (a/n i have absolutely no idea of how jeremy kyle [or british tv] is or who acts in it or what the plot is but you guys say its awful? so im just going with it because i really cant be arsed to do research at midnight, which is now, IM WRITING THIS AT MIDNIGHT anyway sorry), despite everyone in that house hating that show.

But apparently, not everyone hated it, because as soon as Alice set on that channel, kittens started gathering around, staring at the telly intently. They all just sat there, looking up at the screen flashing images, and Alice was more focused on that than on anything else (because really, cats watching Jeremy Kyle was better than Jeremy Kyle).

She spent what felt like forever there, admiring cats, until the doorbell rang.

- ALICE CAN YOU GET THAT PLEASE? - Josh screeched from his room and Alice sighed.

- SURE! - She yelled back, getting up and walking towards the door.

She looked trough the peephole, and there was Dan. She opened the door smiling widely, and he smiled back.

- Hey. - He said quietly.

- Hello.

- Do you, uh, have a minute?

- Uh, yeah, sure. Why?

- It's... something. Can we talk in my flat? - He awkwardly asked, averting his gaze to his shoes.

- Um, sure, I just... I gotta tell Josh, just a sec. - She said, taking a few steps back into the flat, wondering what could be so serious that Dan would want to talk about in his own apartment.

As she crossed the living room towards the stairs, she noticed the cats were now all over the sofa, taking all the space, still watching TV.

''Weird animals cats are.'' She thought, chuckling.

- HEY JOSH! - Alice yelled from the stairs.

- Yeah?

- I'm going to Dan's for a minute, I'll be right back!

- Uh, why? - He asked, but then shrugged it off. - 's okay! Don't take long, you gotta help me clean the litter!

- Urrrgh, sure, see ya later, bye! - She moaned as she walked back to the door, where Dan stood, fiddling on his phone. - Uh, just told Josh I was going to yours, I can go now.

Dan looked up and nodded, leading her to his flat. They got inside and he told her to sit on the couch, and then offered her a beverage.

- I'm okay, thanks. - She said quietly, smiling lightly.

He nodded, then sat down next to her.

There was a long, awkward silence, which was broken by Alice asking what Dan wanted to talk about.

- Oh, yeah. Uh... - He seemed like he was snapped out of some sort of really weird trance, where he was in dark deep thoughts. He looked straight ahead, not blinking. - It's quite hard to say, I mean, I don't exactly know how to...

- Dan, it's alright if you're gay, I mean, I don't get why you're telling me this but you know, I won't judge nor criticize, it's completely fine, if you like the D just go for it! - Alice said, smiling, placing a hand on his knee.

Dan immediately looked at her, narrowing his eyebrows in a shocked expression.

- What?! I- it's not that!... And I'm not gay!... What? - He was so confused and surprised it made Alice burst out laughing, clutching her stomach and leaning down. - Whaaat? - He moaned, still confused.

- Your face, - She said between fits of laughter. - it's just priceless!

After about five minutes trying to calm the girl down, Dan finally succeeded with the help of some tea, and then they got back to the serious mode.

- So, let's start off by saying that I am not gay. - He said, and she nodded, trying not to laugh.

- But you know, it'd be okay if you were-

- RIGHT! - He nearly screeched, moving on with that subject, and she giggled quietly. - I just wanted to know how was Dave's first day at school today.

- Uh, fine I guess, why? - Alice fiddled with the cords of her hoodie and sipped her tea slowly.

- Um, nothing, I just... wanted to know.

- Right... - She said, looking at him suspiciously. - If you say so...

She stared at him intently for a few minutes, until he let out a deep sigh, rubbing his eyes, and she smiled, knowing he was about to tell her everything now.
