11: Stop Flirting

The next day, Alice woke up with a loud squeal and a thud. She stood up quickly, rushing into her parents' room to check if Josh was trying to change the lamp again (that happened before... I might tell you later), but no; they were still both asleep.

Then she realized it must've been on Dan's flat, and she couldn't help but worry. Maybe Kyle, or even Dan himself, were in trouble, they got hurt or who knows.

So Alice jumped through the barrier of cats asking for food that was forming around her, and slowly went outside, knocking on Dan's door, completely ignoring the fact that she was still in her pajamas -- the Fall Out Boy oversized tee and grey sweats.

- Dan? - She called as she knocked.

- Uhh, coming... - A masculine voice groaned, sounding tired and hurt.

Alice couldn't help but laugh when Nick opened the door, with his t-shirt covered in bits of cereal and something that smelled like milk.

- Hey, it's not funny! - He moaned.

- Yes it is. - She laughed as he pulled out his tongue. - What happened anyway? Are you okay?

- Uh, yeah, Kyle was doing some sort of dance and hit the bowl that was in my face while I downed my cereal so basically it went flying everywhere and now he's cleaning it. - He chuckled while she folded herself in laughter. - Anyway, I liked your pajamas.

Alice immediately blushed, remembering that detail.

- Oh, I, uh, umm- thanks?

He chuckled at her awkwardness.

- Don't be embarrassed, you look cute. Also, Fall Out Boy is great.

- STOP FLIRTING AND COME HELP ME HERE YOU DICKHEAD! IT'S YOUR FAULT TOO, IT WAS YOUR CEREAL! - Kyle screamed from inside, causing Nick to groan and Alice to blush harder. Did he just say 'stop flirting'?

- Well, guess I have to go. Still have to get changed anyway. But do you want to come in?

- I think... I think it's best if I go... I have to put on clothes too and... have breakfast... and I don't wanna bother you guys so early in the morning.

- Nahh, come here, you can have breakfast with us. Please? - He made puppy eyes. - Also, you will bother us in... - He checked his phone. - Half an hour anyway, I don't mind if you start earlier. - He winked, smirking.

Alice didn't know if she laughed, cried, hid under the carpet in the hallway or ran home and never got out. He was flirting; she's never done that before, she didn't know how to react, for god's sake.

- Oh come here. - He got her hand and pulled her inside without an answer, and he laughed as she squealed.

- Ohh look who's here! - Dan said, smiling. - Good morning Alice!

- H-hey. - She smiled back sheepishly.

- How'd you sleep? - He asked, shifting over to the kitchen and getting a couple of mugs from the cupboard.

- Uh, good, and you? - She replied as she went over to the counter, where Nick had seated to make himself another bowl of cereal.

- Great. - He smiled, pouring coffee into the mugs. - Want some?

- No, thanks. - She smiled. - By the way, I should be going back home. Josh doesn't know where I am, he might get scared, and I still have to feed the cats.

- CATS! - Kyle squealed. - CAN I HELP, PLEASE?

They laughed and she nodded, walking over to the door with him following.

- See you guys later. - She waved.

- See ya! - They replied, smiling.

Quietly Alice and Kyle entered her flat and went over to the kitchen, where the kittens were all spread around, looking up, asking for some food. While Alice prepared their kitten food which consisted of cat food softened with milk, and Kyle set the ration in bowls for the grown cats.

After that, Kyle went back to Dan's and Alice had breakfast and went up to her room to get changed. She trotted to the bathroom and brushed her hair and teeth quickly, before getting her backpack and going back downstairs, saying a brief goodbye to the half-asleep Josh that leaned on the kitchen counter with a mug of steaming coffee in his right hand.

As soon as Alice stepped outside her flat, she heard the guys doing the same, and turned on her heels after locking the door. The two guys were there, without Dan nor Will nor Kyle.

- He-ey. - Nick sang, and she smiled, waving lightly at Dave, who she hadn't seen yet.

- 'ello. - He smiled shyly. - Liked your jumper.

Alice looked down at herself and realized she was wearing her Coldplay X&Y jumper, and smiled, looking back up.

- Thanks. Coldplay is great, right?

They walked to school talking about bands; they crossed the corridors in a comfortable silence, not minding the people staring at the nerd and two cute guys hanging around. They said their goodbyes as each went to their own form.

Dave quietly entered the English classroom and Mrs. Wright was already there, sat cross legged in her chair, with a book in front of her. She raised her head a bit and greeted Dave, who returned the monotone 'hello' and walked over to his seat next to a quiet boy he didn't pick up on the name, but seemed to be like him - too quiet, too shy and too smart.

He pulled out Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones', that he was reading as a recommendation from Woody, and started reading, not even noticing the girls looking at him and giggling.

Nick trotted over to the Biology classroom and entered, hoping he wasn't interrupting anything, but for his misfortune Mr. Boulstridge was already there, talking.

- Walker, Walker, you have to knock before you get in. - He scolded.

- Oh- uh- sorry. - Nick said, smiling sheepishly. - C-can I come in?

The teacher looked at him and stared for a few seconds, thinking about what should he do.

- Oh screw it, come in. - He grumbled.

Nick chuckled quietly at his teacher's reaction and rushed over to his seat at the back next to a girl with light brown hair dip dyed green, who smiled at him briefly and continued on doodling on her notebook's last page.

Alice rushed over to the Geography room and knocked lightly, but then realized the teacher wasn't there yet. She quickly got in, not receiving any attention from students -- that was until she sat on her usual spot next to Aly, the slut of her form, who stared at her indignant for a few minutes, until Alice finally asked what was wrong.

- ''What's wrong?'' You know what's wrong?

- No, that's why I asked. - Alice muttered.

- You listen carefully to me, missy, - Aly inched her face closer, staring into Alice's green eyes. - I want you very far from the cute new boys, okay? They are nothing for you. They won't be with you, and you should stay away from them.

Alice stifled a chuckle and nodded, trying hard not to laugh. Was that girl serious
