Chapter 5

"I'm in love with you." He said. My eyes went wide and I stumbled backwards a step.
"Wh-What?" Was all I could manage to say.
"I- I don't talk to you or act normal because everytime I'm around you, all I want to do is kiss you. Everyone in my family knows and they tease me about it. I can handle the teasing but the urge to kiss you is to much sometimes. So I keep my distance all the time." He explained looking at the ground the whole time.
"Ethan-" I started but was cut off when the back door opened.
"Hey guys!" Harley said coming out. She looked at us and then added, "I'm not inturopting anything am I?" Then I relized something.
"You knew?" I ask her. She looked confused.
"Knew what?" She asked me glancing at him.
"You knew the truth this whole time and you never told me?! Or at least convinced him to tell me?!" I exclaimed.
"Hope. I told them not to say anything." Ethan said looking at me.
"Great. The one person I thought would always tell me everything." I say. She looked shocked with relization. My phone started ringing and I answered it.
"Yeah?" I say.
"Hope, can you come home? You father and I need to talk to you." My mom said.
"Be right there." I say. I hang up and see Harley and Ethan talking.
"Bye." I say to them as I walk by them to leave.
"Hope-" Harley started but I cut her off.
"Bye." I say. I leave and walk home.
I get there and open the door. I was still a little mad and was hoping for good news.
"In here, Hope." My mom called from the kitchen. I picked up Princess to calm me down a little and walked to the kitchen.
"What's going on?" I ask. There was a person I didn't recognize sitting down and my dad was sitting next to her.
"We have some news." Dad said.
"Ok? Who's this?" I say nodding towards the lady.
"I'm Ashley." She said. I nod.
"You father and I... are getting a divorce." Mom said taking a deep breath before saying it.
"What? Why?" I ask confused.
"I have been cheating on your mother." Dad said.
"With her?" I say looking at Ashley.
"Yes. And now, she is pregnant." He said. My eyes went wide for a second.
"Why?" I ask. I look down at Princess. I did not want to be his daughter right now and this was to much. This whole day was to much.
"Why what?" Mom asked.
"Why tell me all this?" I ask.
"We thought you would need an explanation." Dad explained.
"So... now, an explanation makes someone disappointed?" I check.
"Is that what you are now? Disappointed?" He asked looking hurt.
"How could I not be?! You and mom always said you were in love! If this is what love is I don't want it!" I exclaim. My voice was raised and I just wanted to run.
"Hope-" mom started.
"No! I don't want anyone else to explain. Go ahead dad." I say.
"Yes. We were in love but- things change Hope. Not everything is forever." He said.
"Your right. Because the 'love' you had for me is over to." I say using air quotes on "love".
"That is not true! I will always love you!" He exclaimed. "Even when I'm in New York."
"New York?" I ask.
"Yes. Ashley has family there and wants to go back." He explained.
"And your going with? To raise the child?" I ask.
"Yes." He said simply.
"Then take the love that you have for me and give it to the child. I don't want it." I say. I was still holding Princess and I grab her leash and walk out slamming the front door behind me.
