As the weekend passes, I keep trying to work up the courage to talk to Marc. But for some reason, I just can't seem to do it. It's not like we don't talk at all during the weekend, we do. I just can't seem to ask him what's going on with him. So when Monday rolls around, I am still clueless as to why he's been acting differently. And as both our weeks are packed with school related things, I have a feeling I won't find out until at least Friday after school. Which sucks because I'm really curious.
"Marc? Are you coming? We need to leave if we don't want to be late!" I call out at the bottom of the stairs. I haven't seen Marc during breakfast, but it's too late for him to have breakfast. We need to leave now.
"Yeah, I'm coming," Marc says as he walks down the stairs, not really seeming in a rush at all.
"There's no time to eat breakfast," I tell him as I open the front door.
"I know," Marc says as he follows me to my car. Both of us get in and as I start the car, silence falls over us. And not the kind we had after we want to the café. No, the uncomfortable kind.
"Why weren't you downstairs for breakfast?" I ask after a while.
"I wasn't hungry."
"I hardly saw you all weekend."
"I was busy."
"With homework? I could've helped."
"No, other stuff," Marc says and I feel like he's not gonna elaborate on that, even if I asked him to. I sigh and decide to just leave it at that. I can tell he isn't in a talking mood at this morning. Luckily, the drive to school isn't long, so we won't be stuck in this situation too long. After I park the car, Marc gets out before I can even ask him at what time his last class ends. I frown as I get out of the car, but quickly make my way to my locker as I don't want to be late.
"Hey girl!" Makayla greets me when I reach my locker, where she is waiting for me.
"Hey! What's up?" I say as I quickly open my locker and take out the books I need.
"Nothing much, had a pretty chill weekend. You?"
"Same, didn't do much."
"You do have to tell me all about your date with Marc though," Makayla tells me as I close my locker.
"It wasn't a date."
"Sure it wasn't," Makayla says with a knowing look on her face as we start making our way to class.
"It wasn't! We just did homework together, that's all."
"And he took you to a café," Makayla adds, making me wish I left that part out when I told her about my outing with Marc.
"Yeah, but it wasn't like a date, at all. And he's been acting really weird."
"What do you mean?"
"I feel like he doesn't want to talk to me," I explain as we walk into our first class of the day.
"That's weird."
"Yeah, it is. And I don't know what to do about it."
"Should you?" Makayla asks as we both sit down.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, he's the one who doesn't feel like talking so something must be up with him. I don't think you should be the one doing something about it, he should be the one doing that."
"But what if it's something I did?"
"Do you think it's something you've done?"
"I don't know."
