Even though I knew it was going to be hard to pretend that nothing is going on between Marc and I, I had no idea exactly how hard it would be. Between school and spending time at home, we don't have much opportunities to spend time together. Which also means that days go by where I don't get to kiss Marc. Which really sucks because I like kissing him. A lot.
"Alexa?" I hear the voice I've grown to love say, making me look up from my drawing.
"Yeah?" I ask as Marc walks towards me.
"Your mom wanted me to ask you if you wanted to help me get some groceries."
"Really?" I ask, looking at him suspiciously.
"No, not really. She asked me to do it, but I don't feel like going by myself," Marc admits, making me chuckle.
"Is this our second date then?"
"If you want it to be our second date."
"Well, I don't. but I'm afraid it'll be the closed we'll get to a second date in a while."
"Yeah, I'm afraid you're right," Marc agrees. I don't know how it happened, but our dad has been questioning us about what we're up to a lot lately, as if he knows something is up. This has caused us to be really careful when it comes to going out together.
"So, where will this date take place?"
"Well, we could go to the local Walmart that's 5 minutes away, but I feel like the chance people we know are there is pretty big. So, I was thinking to go to the mall a few towns over, as it's less likely that we know people there."
"Sounds like a plan."
"What will we tell your parents though? Why are you coming with me?"
"Because you don't know where to find things and I need some make up things myself."
"And why are we going to the big Walmart?"
"Because they have more choice?"
"Sounds believable enough," Marc chuckles as I get up.
"Want to go right now?"
"Yeah, if you're not busy."
"Nope, not really."
"Let's go on our date then!" Marc says, way too happy about a date to the supermarket. I follow him downstairs. I walk into the living room, where mom is reading a book.
"We're heading out to the store," I tell her, making her look up from her book.
"You're going with Marc?"
"Yeah, he doesn't really know where he can find everything and I need some make up stuff as well."
"Ah okay."
"We might be away a little while as we were planning on going to the big mall a few towns over. They don't have the lipstick I want here."
"Okay, as long as you're back before dinner."
"We will be," I promise before walking back to the hallway, where Marc is waiting for me.
"All good?" he asks.
"Yes, let's go," I say as I open the front door. I make my way to my car, followed by Marc. After the both of us get in, I start driving to the mall a few towns over. As I'm driving, Marc keeps looking at me.
"What?" I ask after a little while, taking my eyes off the road for a second to glance over to Marc.
"Nothing, just happy that it's just the two of us."
