Lily was never really happy with James. Don't say this to me. Ever. Things will get ugly very quickly if you do. I repeat, DO. NOT. SAY. THIS. TO. ME.

THIS IS FALSE. THIS IS FALSE, THIS IS FALSE, THIS IS FALSE.

THIS IS FALSE. THIS IS FALSE. THIS IS FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I possibly emphasise it more? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here's what we see of Lily's character, what we know for sure about her. She isn't afraid to stick up for herself or others, she's independent, she's smart, obviously, she fights for what's right and what she believes in, she's fierce, she's kind, she's got a good heart, and most importantly, she has no trouble saying no to James Potter.

If you say that Lily wasn't happy with James, the only alternative would be that he forced her into the relationship. Now, based solely off of what we know about Lily, does she seem like the kind of person that could easily be trampled over, be forced into things?

No. She'd stand up for herself. She would never let anyone push her around like that. What in the world gives you the idea that she could be forced into something she didn't want? She's too smart for that, and way too fierce and independent for it, too.

Besides, James would never do that. Never, ever, ever in a MILLION YEARS would he try to do that to Lily. Why?

Well, we've already established that James really has a good heart (see "Why We Love James Potter," chapter three).

So what in the name of Merlin possessed you to think that he would ever do such an atrocious thing?

Look, we know for a fact that he matured. He stopped hexing people, was good enough to be Head Boy, was chosen with a select few people to be part of the Order, and he always fought against Voldemort. Does that seem like the type of person who would force a girl into an unwanted, unhappy relationship?

NO!

Besides, look at the day he died. I mean, really, does that seem like the type of behavior that the man of an unhappy, unloving relationship would have? If James forced Lily into that relationship, that means that he never loved her, either, which is SO OBVIOUSLY false- if it were a fake love, he wouldn't have so willingly and quickly given his life up for her.

And, on top of all that? What about the description of the picture of the two of them? I don't remember the exact wording, but it clearly described them as being happy and beaming at the camera! THEY WERE HAPPY, THAT IS A STATED FACT!! Stop trying to make up false accusations and theories that aren't even close to canon, just so your ship looks better!

James loved Lily, which we've done a chapter on already- but Lily loved James, too.

Lily was happy with James, don't you dare tell me any differently.

She was happy with him- remember that. Accept it. Embrace it. CELEBRATE IT!

That's may advice for you!
