This is, hands down, the WORST one. James never really loved Lily.
Don't you dare. Don't. You. Dare. Say what you will about him being a bully when he was younger, about how Snape is a better match for Lily, whatever. I don't respect that opinion at all, but I get that there will always be people like that. But DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME THAT JAMES DIDN'T LOVE LILY.
James waited for Lily, for as long as it took for her to fall for him after she rejected him over and over. He waited for her when, in all honesty, he probably could've gotten any other girl. He was popular, smart, funny, good looking, athletic... yeah- any girl probably would've fallen for him.
But he waited for Lily, and only for Lily. Why? Because he loved her more than ANYTHING else in this world.
Don't give me the "James didn't love Lily, he just wanted her because she was the only girl who was hard to get" speech. No.
If he just wanted her for that, if he didn't really love her, he would've given up long ago. But even more importantly?
HE WOULDN'T HAVE LITERALLY DIED TO SAVE HER!!!
Oh, did you conveniently forget about a certain day called October 31, 1981? Because I didn't.
"Lily, take Harry and go! It's him! Go! Run! I'll hold him off!"
He was ready to give himself up in an instant, in an instant, to buy her just a little bit of time, so that maybe, just maybe, she could somehow, in some way, escape. Just to give her a tiny bit more of a chance to LIVE.
That's how much he loved her.
Don't you dare even try to tell me differently. DON'T. YOU. DARE.
