Rachel lifted her head from the sheets of paper. She had been so engrossed in reading it she hadn't noticed what was going around her. She frowned, this ride was taking much longer than she expected. Rachel peered out the window. The taxi took a turn into a dark alley. "Excuse me, the route to the hotel is the other side. You took a wrong turn back there." Rachel said to the driver. He didn't respond but continued driving. "Hello? You're going the wrong way!" she said louder than before. The driver still didn't respond. Before Rachel could open her mouth and say something again, two things happened. The car stopped in front of an unusual warehouse. The driver turned around. Rachel looked at him and she realised that he looked familiar. But before she could say anything, he pulled out a piece of cloth and brought it near Rachel's nose in one swift motion. Rachel could hardly figure out what was going on. Her eyelids felt heavy and her spine felt weak. She felt dizzy and before she realised it, she had collapsed unconscious onto the car seat.
When Rachel awoke, the first thing she noticed was a throbbing pain in her forehead. She looked around her. It seemed like a warehouse. But the shelves were empty and caked with dust. There were rubble and dirt all over the floor. Rachel held onto a crate nearby and tried to stand up. Her knees felt weak and wobbly. She used one hand to balance her weight and clutched her forehead with her other hand. Finally, she was able to stand. She pressed herself against the cold wall and took deep breaths. Once she steadied her breathing, her headache had increased. Things were dizzy all around her.
To the far side of the warehouse was a small door and sunlight was coming through it. Rachel tried to remember what she was doing and why she was in an old warehouse. Then it came to her. She had gone to a computer cafe to get some information. She had taken a taxi to reach the hotel again. The taxi took a wrong turn and it stopped. Rachel couldn't remember what happened next. Her headache was increasing by the minute. It felt as if twenty thousand men with twenty thousand hammers were in her skull driving a screw through her head and pounding her skull. She placed a foot forward and almost fell down. Her knees were weak. her mouth was dry and she was hungry. She looked around again. Maybe there would be some food?
Rachel limped to the door stopping once in a while to look around for any human or any food. As she was a few feet away from the door, her headache grew less and a particular memory came into her mind.
The car stopped in front of a warehouse. The driver turned around with a cloth and pressed it against her nose. She had felt weak and tired and the last thing she could remember was the sound of her head hitting the seat and the smell of car seats.
Her head hurt. Her mouth was dry and her feet felt too weak to walk properly. She looked around the place. Where was she? Why was she there?
