Rachel had driven only once or twice. She had never got her driving license. But she had also never been kidnapped. Rachel still wondered what reason those men had to kidnap her. She had driven once earlier this year. All of these thoughts raced through Rachel's mind as she ran to her escape. The warehouse was in an alley. The hotel would be approximately ten minutes from the warehouse. Rachel looked at the car. It looked like an SUV but Rachel wasn't sure. She had never been a specialist in cars. Heck, she wasn't even interested in cars. But now, here she was breaking into a car, about to drive it when she had hardly an information about driving. She knew the simple basics. Then Rachel realized she needed a pair of keys to open it. She had seen keys somewhere in the warehouse. She ran back and searched around until she found it. Then she used it to open the car door. She slid into the seat and looked around. There was a manual on the dashboard. It had the basic components shown. Rachel noted them down mentally and put the keys in.
15 minutes later-
Rachel rushed into the hotel. The car was parked outside rather shabbily but she didn't care. Betty was behind the counter looking bored. Rachel ran to her. "Betty! I need your phone, now!" Rachel said. Rachel's phone had been taken away. "Why? Are you okay?" Betty asked standing up. "I'll explain later. I need to call the police!" Rachel said. "Tell me why!" Betty said. "I was kidnapped and the kidnappers will be back at the place where they were keeping me in some time. If I can call the police in time maybe we can catch them! Please, Betty!" Rachel said her voice urgent. Betty looked at her with sympathy and gave Rachel her phone. Rachel dialed the police station.
Back at the warehouse-
Bob and Rob returned to the warehouse early. The food place was closed. They returned to the warehouse. The boss had told them to take care of the girl called Rachel. He gave them some details about how she looked. The boss dropped her off and asked them to leave her alone and to drop food and water and check on her once in a while. Bob walked into the warehouse. It was empty. Rachel was nowhere to be seen. "Rob! The girl's not here!" he yelled. Rob, his twin ran in. "She must have escaped!" he said, with shock evident in his voice. "What should we do?" Rob said panicking. "The boss might be a bit angry at us, seeing how many times we've ruined his missions." Rob continued. "But he always forgives us right," Bob said. Rob nodded his head. Then a realization hit him. "If she escaped then she'd call the police!" Rob said. Bob's eyes widened. "We have to erase all evidence. Quick!" Bob said.
Rachel-
Rachel was filling Betty in with all the details. The police would be at the hotel in a few minutes. Rachel had been kidnapped for over 5 hours! Betty told her not to worry and that it would probably take those men a long time to return to the warehouse so Rachel had relaxed and begun telling Betty the whole story.
5 minutes later the police van showed up. Rachel sat in the back of the van and told the officers the directions. They were in front of the warehouse now. Rachel walked in after the officers who walked stealthily with their guns. What Rachel saw in front of her shocked her. She couldn't believe it! Just a while ago there was a plastic bag, crates, and stuff in the warehouse. There was no plastic bag, no crates anywhere, and there was a thick layer of dust on the floor. Their footprints made marks where they walked. "I doubt you were kept in this warehouse," Betty said. Betty had wanted to accompany Rachel. "If you were, they would be a little bit of evidence or at least footmarks. I mean look at the layers of dust and everything. You said there were a plastic bag and crates. This place looks as if it hasn't been used for centuries." Rachel had to admit her story seemed fake now. The officers looked at her. The jeep! "There'll be jeep tire prints outside. I saw them before I escaped. Come on!" Rachel said and sprinted out. As soon as she saw the place where the jeep was, her jaw fell open. There were no tire prints anywhere. Just a layer of sand evenly spread all around except for the prints from the police van. The officers looked angry now.
"No, please listen!" Rachel exclaimed as the policemen piled one after another into the van and left. "I'm not lying! There really were kidnappers! Please believe me!" She said. But the van was gone. She looked at Betty. Betty shot her a sympathetic look. "Betty, at least you'll believe me right?" Rachel said. Betty looked down. At last, she spoke. "You need some rest Rachel. I guess all this panic and fear must be taking its toll on you..." Rachel looked at her. "Please, I'm not lying!" Rachel said. "Come on I'll drop you back to the hotel. I have some work back there to finish." Betty said.
When Rachel reached the hotel she headed straight for her hotel room. She couldn't believe that no one would try to understand her. But one thing was for sure now, someone was trying to hurt her. First planting snakes in her room and now kidnapping, Rachel had a feeling that both of these were done by the same person. The person the men were calling their 'boss'. And from tomorrow Rachel would do everything in her power to find out whether anyone believed her or not. With this surge of motivation and hope, she went to bed that night. But she had no idea about all the things which would happen as a result of her determination to find the culprit.
