Dread

Seth ran through the streets to the empty plot near the soccer grounds. He knew that he was not thinking straight; he could not possibly face whatever it was that killed Peter and his parents alone but he had to do something, he at least had to try.

A shiver ran down his spine as he felt the cold breeze, leading him to the source of his despair. He felt uneasy and had a sense of urgency to look behind. He tried to calm himself, thinking that because he was so close to the wretched house, his brain was playing tricks with him. Still, Seth couldn't help himself, he had an overwhelming feeling that he was being watched or followed.

He felt the need to turn around but could not trust himself with the burden of seeing something that wasn't there, but this time, what he saw was real. He saw his sister standing some feet behind him as if she was following him, he noticed that she didn't even care to clean her tear stained face.

"What are you doing?" Seth shouted.

"Something killed my parents and I want to find out what it is!" Amelia shouted back almost overpowering Seth's voice.

"No, you will not go into that house."

"Yes, I will..."

"Amelia, why don't you understand?! This is dangerous! You could die!"

"I don't give a damn about that."

"No! I'll not let you go inside that... that hellhole... I can't lose you too." Seth said in an almost threatening voice with the greatest concern for her sister.

"That..." Said Amelia pointing to the house "whatever it is... took away our parents and I can't just stand back here and watch!" protested Amelia.

"No... Uh, I... Okay. Come with me but you have to promise me that you will be alert at all times and whatever happens in there... if anything happens in there... run for your life and find Joseph." Cautioned Seth.

Amelia nodded and without saying anything else to her brother walked forward. They walked towards the old wooden door that lead to the cursed inside. Before Seth could even touch the doorknob, the door opened by itself as if it was inviting them in. Seth walked in, examining for any signs of danger, Amelia followed him, staying close to her brother.

"What are we looking for?" Asked Amelia.

"I... don't know." Seth replied, trying to find some clues.

They came across various rooms, all different in characteristics but something made both of them feel that there was something other than what meets the eye. They anticipated that there could be someone else in the treacherous house with them. Suddenly, Seth saw a silhouette glide past him.

"Did you see that?" He asked frantically.

"N-No what?"

"Come on! Follow me!"

Seth ran in the direction of the silhouette, Amelia followed him. After running for a few seconds, they came up against a wall. Seth heard an ominous whisper in his mind, the voice of the girl, but this time it was much clearer.

"Death... Death... Death... Death..." Seth heard the little girl's voice chanting the same word over and over and over again. He held his head in pain and grunted in a low voice.
