Liz arrived at school and stretched her arms above her head as she walked into the building. It was officially winter now, and snow was gently falling to the ground. Preston greeted her with a rub of the head, and then he escorted her to the art room. "Can I see your project yet, Peaches?" Preston said as tried to push past her to get onto the room. "Oh, sorry, Hun, but no peeking until the Christmas Gala," Liz said as she playfully pushed him back into the hall. "But you spend all your time in there, and that means I barely see you anymore," the viper childishly wined. "Could you two get a room somewhere else? I'm working here!" Jailee said with paint on her hands and face. Preston looked daggers at her as Liz finally closed the door. She got out her sculpture and was about to start painting when a thought struck her. "Ya know, I haven't seen Eddy today," she said, pondering while looking at a corner of the room. "Who?" Steve asked as he popped out of nowhere and scared the crap out of both Liz and Jailee." Edward," Elizabeth said as she retrieved paint from a cupboard. Jailee was finishing her algebra homework as she said," He's probably just sick. God! This is so hard!" Liz looked over her shoulder," Eight point two." "Dang, Panchum," Steve proclaimed," You just barely looked at it!" Liz gave a smirk and continued working. "That statue is perfectly proportioned. How did you do that?" Jailee said with a hint of jealousy in her voice. "It's all just mathematical equations. It's much simpler when you think of it that that way," she replied. "Oh yeah! That's way more simple," Steve said with a small laugh.

The bell rang, and as Liz was walking to first period, she was stopped by literal garbage. Ashley stepped in front of her and held her hand out forcing Liz to stop in her tracks. "After what happened last week, I dumped that sorry excuse for a boyfriend, and yes, he was devastated. I'm dating Marcus now, and he has surprise for you later today," Ashley said with an evil grin. Liz looked up at the six foot tall jock (which meant he was half gorilla) and swallowed hard. "What do you mean surprise?" Liz asked in a quiet voice. Ashley booped Liz's nose and said," Now, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?" She walked away and that meat head followed her blindly. "What a skank," Liz  mumbled as she walked up the stairs.

First period was quick and breezy because they had a test the Friday before and now they had a free day. Liz was messing with her phone when she felt someone touching her hair. She turned around, but James was on his phone as well. "What?" he asked. "Did you do that?" she asked. "Do what?" "Never mind," she spun back around, and seconds later she felt it again. "I'm not mad, I just want to know if you're doing it." "Doing what?!" "Messing with my hair." "You're crazy, Elizabeth." As soon as Liz sat back in her chair regularly, James continued twirling her hair on his index finger. She didn't even care at this point, and it felt nice anyway. The truth is, James didn't even mean to do it, but it had become a habit.

The bell rang and James went straight out. He wasn't avoiding her, but they weren't really friends anymore. Preston had told her to go ahead because the teacher wanted to speak to him. She spotted Marcus looking straight her; she tried to avoid him, but he stopped her. She looked up,"So, Marcus was it, how are you? I hope your day has been great!" He didn't say anything, and then Liz felt a brutal knee to the stomach. She flew up at the force and slammed into a locker, "What the f***." She was not one to curse, but I think this deserves it. She gripped her stomach and coughed; she felt the ground in front of her only to find her blood. She struggled to stand up, but she eventually did it only to be brought back to the ground by an over the head blow. She had enough; she shot up and punched him into the locker, which created an indention. Marcus picked her up by the neck; she flailed and kicked, trying to get loose. Marcus had other ideas, he walked towards the giant window at the end of the hall. Preston just walked out of the class room and spotted the scene; he ran, but he was to late. Marcus hurled Elizabeth through the window. Everything was slow motion, the glass falling beside her, the beads of blood from the glass cuts as they seemed to be flying upward, the snow surrounding her, and the fall itself. She felt weightless. Preston shoved Marcus out of the way and dove out; the glass cut his side and ripped his jacket to shreds. Liz saw him and reached out to him. He grabbed her and and pulled her into his chest. He spun them around so that he would absorb the impact. Liz looked up at him and brought her lips to his. He pulled her closer and closed his eyes. Everything around them disappeared. They pulled away a second before impact. Liz opened her eyes and they filled with tears instantly. Preston's eyes were semi shut and blood was pouring from his mouth. His blood stained the blanket of snow below him. She got out her phone and called        9-1-1. She hung up and gently smacked his cheek. "Preston! Stay with me, okay? Everything's gonna be fine! Okay? Preston... I love you so much! Please don't leave me!" Liz's voice cracked and her tears dripped into her wounds causing her more pain. She felt a hand on her arm. "I love you, too, Peaches," the fragile voice said, followed by a wet cough. His lungs are probably filling with blood, she thought. Elizabeth trembled. As the ambulance arrived, his eyes shut completely.
