ARAMIS

I woke up and grimaced. Hideaway was sleeping soundly next to me. I checked the time. 4:37. I got up silently, kissed Hideaway on the forehead and walked out of the room, taking my hoodie and backpack on the way out. As I walked down the corridor, I passed Wolf's room. The door opened and he came out too. We didn't say a word to each other, just walked silently down the corridor. We both already knew what we had to do. We were leaving the Ryder House. We had to get stronger. We walked into the armoury. I walked straight to my Glock and to Panther, putting the Glock on my belt and Panther slung over my shoulder. I also got a shit load of ammo. Wolf picked up the Ryder Pistols, which I found weird seeing as he never used them. Then again, I picked up Reapers Scythe and attached it to my back.
"Axel" I said. He turned turned round
"Yeah?" I took the scythe in my hands
"I want you to hear this so I can't go back on it" I said. Wolf just nodded
"I promise that if Reaper ever hurts Hideaway in any way shape or form, that this Blade, her own blade, will pierce her heart." I declared. Wolf didn't respond for a bit.
"You'd kill her?" He asked after a while
"If she hurt Hideaway? Definitely." I replied. Wolf eyes flashed red. He didn't like the thought of his best friends killing each other which is pretty understandable
"Are you okay with that promise?" I asked
"Well that doesn't matter" Wolf replied calmly "you made the promise. I heard it. That makes it binding. Whether I like it or not, it's done"
"You didn't answer my question" I replied. Wolf looked up at the ceiling for a few seconds
"If it comes to that, and you somehow beat Reaper, it's got to be quick. As painless as possible. Deal?"
"Deal" I replied. Wolf nodded and walked out. I followed him. We next went to pantry when we filled our bags full of food. Water would be easy to obtain so we didn't take any of that. We also took a two man tent. As walked out of the main building and headed towards the gate. Just beyond it, I saw Surasshu and Hakku stuck in the ground, the blades crossed, the moonlight glinting off them. We walked past them. Wolf didn't pick them up. We headed South, towards a massive forest. It was about a five week walk to the other side, and then you'd get to City A. The first city that was overrun by the Shades. It had the most Shades in it too. Perfect for training. There was also no Chasers there so we wouldn't have any unwanted gun men showing up. We stood on top of a hill, looking out over the forest. I'm the distance, I could see the skyscrapers of City A. It was a very long walk. The forest itself would be filled with Shades. The darkness seemed to collect in the forest, making it impossible to see what was in it. Since the Infection, it's almost like the darkness was alive. Choking us. It didn't feel as bad when you were with someone else. Especially if that someone was Wolf. The darkness seemed afraid to touch him. Afraid to choke him. I put a cigarette in my mouth and lit it. The glow kept the darkness at bay. Smoking is your friend against choking darkness kids. But seriously, don't smoke. You don't have smoke proof lungs. So shush.
"Should we start?" Wolf asked, putting a toothpick in his mouth and cracking his knuckles and neck. I smiled at my best friend.
"Hell fucking yeah" I replied. Wolf smiled back, then we ran down the hill and into the forest.
