JAX
I shovelled some more dirt out of the hole and onto the dirt pile. Another one. I drove the shovel back into the ground and heard a thud. The shovel had hit something. I found you. I scraped away the dirt to reveal a wooden box. A coffin. In the plaque was a name.
Here lies Charlotte Conners. A mother and wife. She will be missed.
Hey Mom. I used the shovel to pry open the coffin lid to reveal a skeleton inside. You haven't changed much since last year. One of my chains unhooked from my wrist and wrapped around the skeleton. I looked at it.
"I miss you too" I said to the chain. It shook and replaced itself back on my wrist. I spent a few more minutes looking after my mothers corpse, rearranging the bones and stuff. Finally I was done. I resealed the coffin, got out the hole and started replacing the dirt. Halfway through, a bullet soared past me. I turned around to see who fired at me. 15 meters away from me was a man holding a pistol. More men were filing out of trucks behind him. About 40 of them. All armed.
"Hey! You!" He said "No one is meant to live here!"
"Hate to break it to you, but I live here" I replied
"Just you?" The guy asked smiling "all alone in this whole village?"
"Everyone else is dead. You must know the story" I retorted
"Everyone does. The village that drove itself mad"
"So that's why you're here" I said " you want to rob the houses of dead civilians"
"Bingo" the guy said
"You're also stalling for your men to surround me" I continued
"Two in a row. You're smarter than you look" the guy replied. He raised his hand and all 40 men surrounded me in a circle, all pointing M4A1's at me. I sighed. A chain unhooked from my right wrist again. Followed by another. And another.
"Alright, all of you can join" I said. Suddenly all fifteen chains on my right wrist unhooked. Then fifteen more unhooked from my left wrist. And fifteen from my left ankle. And fifteen more from my right ankle. All 60 chains waved around me. The leader slashed his hand down and all the men fired. I sighed and my chains started moving with lightning speed, almost at a blur, blocking all the bullets. I just stood there, not moving a muscle, the sparks of the bullets hitting the chains surrounded me. After a few minutes, all of the bullets stopped. The stupid idiots all had to reload their guns. They shouldn't have fired at me at the same time. Now they were all vulnerable. I smiled. "have fun" I said, stretching my arms out. Chains went out in all directions. Some dug underground. Some went straight up. The chains wrapped, smashed and snapped enemies all over the place. They started dropping like flies. Some ended up with snapped necks, others with crushed skulls, others torn in half, some strangled. I clicked my fingers and all the chains returned to me and re-hooked themselves. I smiled. That was a nice exercise. I went to check the trucks to see if there was anything I could use in them. There were four trucks. The first one had nothing in it except Caps. The second one was full of food. Good. I can use that. The third one was full of empty bags, probably for all the stuff they expected to take from the village. There was absolutely nothing in the fourth truck except a piece of paper. I picked it up and read it. It was about a tournament that was going to be held in about two years. Seems interesting. Suddenly I heard a pistol click. I activated my Enhancement. I turned as the pistol fired. The bullet passed straight through my head as if I wasn't even there
"There's no point" I said "I can manipulate the density of my body. I can go from being as thin as air-" I amped up the density of my body to max. The guy fired again and the bullet shattered on impact. "To as hard as rock" I finished. One of my chains wrapped round the guys neck
"How are you doing this?" The guy choked out
"Oh I'm not" I replied "the chains have sentience. They can think on their own. They move on their own accord. I can control them if I want to but I didn't need to during that fight so I let them do their thing"
"What the fu-"
"Language" I said, the chain snapping the guys neck. Now it was time to train. I have a tournament to win.
