Innocence trudged back into our camp, bags under his eyes, his hair messy and his body slouched.
"Sin take over again?" I asked him
"Yeah" he replied, rubbing his eyes
"What did he do this time?"
"He captured some Black Cats. Killed all of them but one. Jons I think his name was."
"Do you know why he left Jons alive?"
"Intel probably. Have a man on the inside"
"That makes sense" I said "Aside from the insanity, Sin is a smart guy"
"I guess" Innocence replies looking at his feet. He then looked at me
"She doing okay?" I nodded towards the other tent, it's light on and it's entrance zipped
"She's been waiting for you. I had to give her 20 Caps for her to go to sleep last night" I said. Innocence smiled. I raised my voice and shouted "Hey Sky! look who's here!". Suddenly there was rustling in the tent as the zip came undone and a 4 year old girl ran out of the tent at Innocence
"Carter! Carter! Carter you're back!" She shouted. Innocence laughed and picked her up, putting her on his shoulders "I missed you!" Sky said smiling
"I missed you too" Innocence replied
"Where'd you go? Was it fun? Did you shoot anyone? Did you fight anyone? Did you win? You won right?" came a cascade of questions. Why was this kid so inquisitive? Innocence took a deep breath
"I went to some bad guys, it was very fun, I did shoot someone, I did fight some people and of course I won what do you take me for?!" Innocence said
"Yayayayayayayay!" Sky said leaning back. Innocence held onto her as to make sure she didn't fall of his shoulders. I smiled, stood up and stretched. It was about 7 in the morning. I checked our surroundings to make sure w were still alone. We decided to camp out in the middle of a field so we could see any Shades or worse nearby. We were looking for someone to help us get stronger. My dad told me about him. A man nicknamed The Tinkerer. According to dad, he knew more about weaponised robotics and Enhancements than anyone else. If anyone could make us stronger, it was him. And according to Dad, he lived right here. I was torn from my line of thought by seeing something on the horizon. A lot of somethings. "Innocence" I said
"I see them" he replied, putting Sky on the ground "in your tent" he said to Sky. She went in and zipped it up with no hesitation. Sensing my body was getting ready for a fight, the Zeus armour started covering my body in dark silver with blue lines running from the power source on my back. Innocence held out his hand and a ball of white energy surged into it. My HUD told me there were 82 life forms in my immediate vicinity. Two of them stepped forward. They must have been twins cos they looked exactly the same
"Technomancer Byte" one of them said
"Shapeshifter Innocence" The other one said
"we're here to take you to the Chasers and collect your"
"75 million cap reward!" Said the guy who mentioned my name
"85 million cap reward!" Said the other one.
"I guess they've figured out that I'm also Sin" Innocence said.
"Either way, we both have higher bounties now. That's not good." I replied
"We will not comply!" I said to the two men
"Then we'll collect the reward for your death!" They said at the same time. All 80 aimed their guns at us
"We need to draw fire away from the tents and Sky" Innocence said. I nodded. I jumped and activated the engines on the souls of my feet. I soared up as they opened fire on me. Some bullets got me but bounced harmlessly off Zeus. I lifted my hand and thunderclouds started forming above me. Below I saw Innocence use Pain Beam, taking a about 10 then run in a random direction firing his AK47. Most of the guys following him. I raised my hand and lightning sparked into sparked into it, making and orb in my palm. I threw it at the crowd of guys running after Innocence. They all instantly died. I raised both my hand and lightning rained down randomly, killing some more. Innocence had turned to Sin and was using his Shifter Blade and Shifter Pistol is deadly efficiency. I wondered what the difference was between them. I've seen the Shifter Blade turn into a gun and the Pistol turn into a blade. I was torn from my line of thought by one of the leaders shooting at me. I flew down and started shooting Electro Orbs out of the palms of my hands. I grabbed the one that was shooting at me and threw him at Sin, who sliced him in half with the blade which now resembled a whip. I swept through the rest of them with somewhat ease until one other leader remained. He fired at Sin but the Shifter Blade turned into a wall of steel and the bullets bounced of harmlessly. He then shot at me. Again the bullet had no effect. He tried to run away but with a crack of Sins wrist, the wall turned back into a whip and had wrapped round guys leg. Sin pulled him back in
"Hello" he said smiling. The Shifter blade shank down suddenly, to the size of a pill. Sin put the blade-pill thing in the leaders mouth "swallow" he commanded. The guy just stared, his face full of fear
"Sin" I said. Suddenly Sin delivered a quick punch the the leaders throat. The leader screamed in pain and swallowed
"Good boy" Sin replied, releasing the leader and taking a step back
"Sin what are you doing?" I asked
"Well what he's just ate was one of my blades. And I'm gonna need it back. So the Shifter Blade will start expanding in my friends stomach"
"Why would you do that?" I asked. Sin shrugged
"It's fun" I could visibly see the guy becoming swollen as the blade kept expanding. He was screaming. Something fell out of his pocket. I picked it up. It was a piece of paper. I unfolded it and read
"What's that?" Sin asked as I could hear the guys skin ripping. I felt sick. I turned away and said
"There's going to be a tournament"
"Where?" Sin asked
"The Rock Arena"
"When?"
"Two years last week"
"That's ages away"
"It is" I replied as Sin rolled a blood soaked ball of silver material away, about 2 meters in diameter. It turned back to a blade and Sin picked it up.
"You disgust me" I said to him. He smiled
"Good" he said, then turned back into Innocence who staggered a bit.
"You okay?" I asked
"Yeah yeah. I'm fine" he replied, shaking his head. I nodded then shouted for Sky. She ran out of her tent looking at the bodies. She ran at Innocence who picked her up. I relaxed and the Zeus armour started dissipating back into my pores. I looked up and thought. Where was the Tinkerer? He was meant to be right here. I sighed and followed Innocence and Sky back to the camp.
