Rise and Fall- The Fight Inside

History

"Ryland, please stop." Grainger begged in tears. 

Ryland raised his head high. 

"Father, this is my family too. I have the right to know what happened to them and I'm sorry but if you won't man up and tell me the truth, I am going to get the truth mysellf." Ryland threatened.

Grainger was frozen in fear. He had been frightened before in many situations but he had never felt as much fear as he had now. Everything he had tried to protect his son from was about to come out. He thought that it was all over, everything was lost. Ryland would never look at Grainger the same way again. He would never love Grainger after he finds out. 

Grainger fell to his knees in tears.

"I am so sorry, Ryland. I really tried, I did- but I am not worthy of having anything good in my life. All I ever do is mess things up and rip this family apart." 

"Father, I forgive you. I know that you gave into your hate and killed my mother. I know about Anton,  Azalea, Ryker, everyone. I have always known, I was testing you." Ryland murmured. 

Grainger looked up at Ryland. His worst fear had became a reality. Just in time, Reagan arrived in the doorway. 

"Grainger? Ryland, what happened?" Reagan asked, concerned by Grainger's sobs.

He sat down beside Grainger and gave him a hug. 

"I found out the truth and that my father is a liar." Ryland scoffed. 

With that final few words, Ryland stormed out of the room. Grainger had felt as if someone had ripped his heart out and stopped all over it again. Then tried to put it back together and put it back in him but the pieces fell apart. He was a shell of his former self. Grainger thought of himself when he found out that his mother had left him to die and that his father was dead. If that wasn't bad enough for him at sixteen to go through, he could only imagine how Ryland felt and he was only nine years old. While Grainger was breaking down, Ryland felt angry. He had feelings just like any other person. His father, more than anyone, should know this. Ryland was mad that his father had tried to hide the truth from him and not come clean in the first place. Ryland stood at the controls of the ship. He didn't want to live on Earth. He wanted to visit his mother's grave and meet friends of his. He wanted to meet his Uncle Luka and his Aunt Mackenzie. Ryland though long and hard about what his next actions would be. At last, he had made up his mind. He retured to his father's side.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Ryland asked with tears rolling down his cheeks. 

Grainger, shocked by  his return, got to his feet. Reagan stood on Ryland's side.

"I wanted for you to live a normal life, away from all of this. I never intended for you to know the truth of your family's history, especially mine. I mean, how do you tell your son that you gave up and accidently killed his mother?" Grainger explained.

Ryland crossed his arms and stood face to face with his father. He wanted to know the whole truth. 

"I need to know eveything that happened and why we are going to Earth." Ryland demanded. 

Grainger pointed to the chairs in the corner of the room. Reagan left them some alone time and went to ready the ship for landing. Ryland took a seat next to Grainger and waited or the truth. 

"Your grandmother was Malice Turner. She married my fathr, Ryker Cross, but he died soon after Reagan and I were born."

"How did he die?"

"My mother had an identical twin named Anna. Anna came to rule the galaxy a little while before I came to Rouge and her parents passed away. There was a prochey that said a pair of twins would destroy the galaxy. One of the twins would rule the galaxy and the other would destroy it. It was tehe battle of light and dark. Ryker, my father, died at Anna's hands. She claimed in was an accident but my mother knew the truth. That is when my mother decided to move from Rouge to Albea Point. She build a castle for us and we lived there for six years. Everything was perfect, until my sith birthday."

"What happend?"

"My mother told me she had a surprise waiting for me on a planet called Maverick but I soon realized it was all a trick so that she could overthrow Anna. I was stranded on Maverick until I was sixteen. I met the Emperor of the galaxy but I didn't know he was my grandfather. He told me that my mother was evil and she planned ot kill everyone. I had a deepseated hate for her after what she had done to me so I went with him back to Rouge were I would become a Knight of Ragnarok. It wasn't until I was sent on a mission to kill my mother that I realized what was really going on. My mother blew up Tempolia. I went in seeking vengence but I found out what Anna was planning. I ended up killing my grandparents and my aunt, leaving only my mother. From there, I found myself on a different mission, a search and rescue mission. That is how I met your mother, Sofia, and my cousin, Valarina. I felll in love with your mother and then married her a few years later."

"Is that when I was born?"

"No. I met my entire family, killed your uncle Anton, almost got killed by Valarina, and fell to the dark side. After that, I fought to protect my family along side your grandmother, Luka, Mackenzie, Reagan, Sofia, and Azalea. Azalea would soon betray us and return to the enemy side after she found out that it was because of me her brother was dead. Sofia got killed in battle but I brought her to a Temple and was able to revive her. There was a lot that happened between then and now but that is the gist of it."

"What about me?"

"Oh, right . Well, when I blew up Rouge, I made the turn to the dark side. I fought everyone but I didn't kill any of them. Something that Luka said to me just really broke me and I snapped. I was trying to save your mother but she refused so..."

"You killed her."

"The pull from the dark side is strong, never forget that. Sofia died and I came to realize my mistake. I rejoined forces with the other and we continued to fight off the enemies but my mother died in battle. I did everything I could to save her but Azalea captured me. I was certain that I was going to die but Luka, Reagan, and Mackenzie saved me. Something had changed in Reagan though and she accidentaly killed Azalea. But, right before your mother died, you were born." Grainger finished.
