"No matter what you do, the dark side is buried inside you, slowly clawing its way to the top. Once you give in, there is no coming back." Amelia whispered.
Ryland hung his head, ashamed of what he was- what he became.
"There is something else, isn't there?" Arielle spoke up.
Ryland picked up his to glance at Arielle, the fire burning in her soul.
"It doesn't take a genius to know that the light side and the dark side don't mix very well. I was sent here with strict orders to kill Ryland because of what his future holds." Amelia revealed.
"And what exactly does my future hold?" Ryland asked angrily.
"Three children- one Witch, one ray of light, and one deep, dark, evil. Did Malice ever tell you?"
"My grandmother died before I was born."
"My, my, Malice. She was the only one who knew about you. Malice planned to make you her weapon. By keeping you at her side, she instantly had our father on a leash and under her command."
"My grandmother rekindled with the light side! She would never do such a thing."
"Ryland. The Luminary can't just pick anyone to become a Witch, they have to have the gene. Where do you think Ben got it from?"
"Malice was a Witch?" Ryland screamed.
"How did you not see this coming?" Amelia asked sarcastically.
"But the prophecy, Anna was the evil twin and Malice was the good twin but if she was really a Witch, both of them were evil." Arielle theorized.
"Smart girl. Malice and Anna were never the children of the prophecy. It wasn't Anna or Malice, not Olivia and Valarina, not Azalea and Sofia, not Grainger and Reagan, not Luka and Mackenzie, but I figured it out." Amelia teased.
It was as if Amelia was dangling the truth in front of Ryland. Putting it close enough for him to reach out and touch it only to pull it away. Ryland became infuriated. Ryland planted his feet, locking his jaw. He raised his head high and began thinking about what Amelia meant. Was it possible that the Angel and Death prophecy didn't come from his bloodline? No- he thought. I can feel the answer is near but I can't tell how close or how far.
"You have been searching for our father for seven years now Ryland. For you, it feels like a matter of months but look at you. You aren't sixteen anymore. Now I know teenagers are great at hiding things but really, Ryland?" Amelia teased.
"What are you talking about?" Ryland wondered, growing more impatient."You know exactly what I've been talking about. Happy 4th anniversary, Mrs. Cross." Amelia congratulated in her own way.
Arielle looked down at her pocket. She pulled the wedding ring she had hid from Bailey and Reagan for many years now.
"Suprise! Double congrats, by the way, little brother," Amelia whispered.
Ryland opened his mouth to speak, about the explode all over Amelia.
"I was sent to kill you now because The Luminary has already selected the next Witch." Amelia stated.
Ryland widened his eyes, not amused by Amelia's 'humor'. Arielle's slowly but certainly became a nervous wreck. Ryland frowned, watching Arielle break a nervous sweat. Amelia smiled, tilting her head. This had only confirmed to her that Arielle had withheld very important information from Ryland.
"You didn't tell him." Amelia laughed as she looked over at Arielle.
"Tell me what?" Ryland shouted.
He watched, following Amelia's eyes to Arielle. She smirked, looking at Arielle's stomach.
"Suprise... again... it's a girl!" Amelia cheered.
A sudden stream of emotions washed over Ryland. He was ready to snap Amelia's neck but happy for himself and Arielle. Yet, he feared what Amelia prophesized earlier.
"The three children I mentioned earlier, This one is the Witch and the only one I care to let live." Amelia brought up.
Arielle and Ryland exchanged glances. With the slight nod of Arielle's head, Ryland knew he could take action. Swiftly,
he held out his hand and called upon his powers to hold Amelia in place.
"You will not take her from me. I guess we will test my new powers and your so called immortality." Ryland challenged.
Arielle can beside Ryland and grabbed Amelia by the collar of her jacket. Arielle felt the fire in her soul burn hotter with every passing second. Using just one arm, Arielle lifted Amelia from the ground and flung her into the wall with such force, Amelia ended up a few rooms over. Arielle and Ryland moved closer to the tremendous hole in the wall. They crouched down, peering through at Amelia. She was covered in white powder from the dry wall, coughing and hacking. Amelia laid with her feet on a piece of the wall and her head resting against a single blank of wood. Slowly, she began pulling herself from the rubble.
"Quite an arm you have, Arielle." she coughed.
"Shut up." Ryland ordered as he came through the hole in the wall after her.
Amelia's eyes light up with electricity as Ryland grew closer. She pushed her hand forward, throwing Ryland back through the hole. Ryland stopped for a second, narrowing his eyes, thinking. He balled up his fist and continued through to Amelia again. Amelia looked down at her hand, prepared to the perform the same action again. This time was different, however. As soon as Ryland held the force from Amelia, he too brought up his hand. Due to the power he had over Amelia, he pushed without touching her. The blank of wood she once rested her head on began bending with the constant force from Ryland's hand. Amelia wrinkled her nose, calling on all the power she could muster. Amelia twitched her lip, scared of losing to her younger but more powerful brother. She glanced up to the board. The wood crumbled under the rage of Ryland sending Amelia backward as it was the only thing standing between her and the next room. Ryland walked forward, continuing his constant push. Amelia watched as the wooden planks flew past her. She picked up speed until suddenly she was met with the cold metal touch from the ship's frame. Even the metal dented from the force. The metal prevented Amelia from moving, concentrating all of Ryland's power on her now. She felt the pressure move, consuming her. It became hard to breathe the closer Ryland got. He moved from moving her to crushing her. Amelia stopped fighting back. At this point she realized Ryland was seconds away from collapsing her ribs, killing her. Amelia squirmed, trying to rid herself of the pressure. Ryland's eyes glimmered black as he knelt down beside Amelia. She turned her head, trying not to look at Ryland.
"You... are... a... monster!" Amelia struggled to shout.
"I am not a monster, I am the Chosen One." Ryland replied, tilting his head to showcase his strength.
A sudden yell came faintly from the background.
"Ryland! Ryland stop! Let her go before you kill her!" the voice screamed over the noise of crumpling metal.
Ryland closed his fingers, feeling the power fade away.
"Why shouldn't I kill her?" Ryland yelled to the voice.
