Caitlin P.O.V
I kept catching Barry looking at me. I knew this could not go on anymore. I looked at him and whispered, "Bar", He looked up from his plate of food. "What really is going on?" He looked down once more and gave a half-hearted smile. "Let's talk about this later." "Barry tell me what is going on you know how I feel when I am left in the dark." He looked past me and asked the waitress for the check. He paid even though I insisted in paying for my meal. We got back in the car and before he could turn on the car I stopped him. "Barry, what's wrong?" He slowly looked up with hurt in his eyes. "I'm sorry cait, you and Iris do not deserve to be feeling this way, told her and she called off our wedding." "What did you tell her?" "That we kissed." "Did that kiss really mean anything?" Those words were out of my mouth before I could stop them. "I don't know. But whatever this is can't happen, I am meant to be with Iris right? Everything points to us being together..." I stopped listening. He was right. He was meant for Iris, and I was supposed to be with Ronnie... He noticed I spaced out. "Cait.." "No, you're right, you should be with her , you sh-should get married, and have kids, and just forget everything that happened between us." I looked down, I had tears in my eyes. I heard him struggling to find the right words. "Cait, I didn't mean it like that." I kept my head down and a tear escaped my eye. "Just leave." "Cait..." I quickly looked up and I whispered to him very softly, "just leave Bar you've done enough. Go apologize to Iris. We just didn't work-- I mean just go and be happy." He looked at me one more time and quickly, leaving the keys to the car. I was left there to cry all by myself.
I finally went home after a long day. I sat on my couch looking at old pictures with Ronnie. When I was happy, truly happy. I remember our wedding day, which was the best and worst day of my life. I missed him so much. He used to say we were like fire and ice. Which is ironic now. Everything was so much simpler back then. Even when Ronnie was gone, and it was just Cisco, Barry and me. I remember going to the bar for the first time with Barry and finding out that he couldn't get drunk. I miss those days. And just as quick as that thought came and went. I fell asleep.
In the morning I was feeling better and went to jitters to get some morning coffee for everyone. I grabbed everyone some flashes and headed to work. I walk into S.T.A.R Labs and everyone is there before me, which surprises me. I greet everyone and hand them there coffee. I noticed Iris wasn't there so I asked Cisco, where she was. He told me that Barry slept at his apartment last night and that he apologized to Iris but no luck. I nodded and walked off. I sat down in my office and began to look for even more clues to try and find Savitar. I didn't notice Barry slip in until I heard him say my name. I looked up and smiled the best I could. "hey bar." "How are you doing?" "I am actually good, you?" "Not at my best of times, still trying to make everything right again." "Well I have to get back to work. Talk to you later?" "Yeah of course." He walked away slowly and I just closed my eyes and said I am not going to do this not today. I look up and I hear someone calling me. It was Iris. I panic but still answer the phone. "Hello." "Hey cailin it's Iris. " "Hi! How are you?" "Good, good. I actually wanted to talk to you about something." "You can ask me anything." "It is actually about Barry." My face turned red. "What about him?" "Do you have feelings for him? I know you kissed him." "Iris-" "It's fine, It's like you knew that we were together." "Iris I am sorry and no I don't have feelings for him. He truly loves you iris. You two are perfect for each other. " "If he truly loved me why did he kiss you twice, and is so unsure of his feelings for you, that when I asked him he simply said I don't know? That doesn't seem to be someone that loves me." "He does Iris you are his everything, he is just trying to do his best in saving you, in protecting you, in loving you." "Thanks Caitlin." She hung up.
I was getting ready to leave for lunch, when I saw Cisco and Barry. They were both just there no talking, no laughing, nothing like before. Something just seemed a little off. "Hey!" They both looked up. "Let's go to lunch." Cisco looked at me and mouthed no. I looked at him. "I am not asking, I am implying. Please. My treat." I smiled. Cisco smiled and agreed. Barry was awfully quiet. "Barry!!" He looked up and smiled. A real smile. "Okay lets go." He chuckled. I looked at him with heart eyes even though he looked at me just as a friend. We head over to a new Thai place that Cisco has been wanting to try out. We sat down at our table and we were not taking much. "Hey guys how was your day?" "Good, Iris called me actually." "That is good Bar, did she say anything?" "She just said that she did care about me but she doesn't know whether to trust me again after you know." We forgot Cisco was here listening. "I don't know, what happened?" Barry shifted in his seat and told him that he'd tell him when they are back at Cisco's apartment. My face turned red again and Barry just gave me a tight smile. I looked at Cisco and asked, "Hey how about this weekend we go drinking?" He looked at me with his eyes wide. "Caitlin! You??" "Well yeah it is time for me to look at the guys who are single like me." I looked over to Barry and he rolled his eyes. Which I didn't understand since he basically picked Iris. Right? "I'll come with. Just like old times." "yes! Finally. So i'm thinking of going to this new bar down park, what do you guys think?" "I think it sounds great." Barry nodded. I looked at Cisco, and Barry. "I've missed this, just us, like before." I smiled wide, and they agreed to do this more. I looked down and noticed the glow of my necklace and frowned. One thing that might never change now, is the necklace. I might be afraid of becoming killer frost for the rest of my life, or one day I will just lose control. I looked back up and saw our food arrive. And for the rest of the day it was good. I went to Cisco's apartment, with Barry to watch some Disney movies. I noticed Barry ignoring me, and I confronted him about it. "Hey Bar, why are you ignoring me?" "I'm not." "yes you are." "Cait, you know why." "Can't we just put this all behind?" "I don't know." "Why not?" "I don't know how I feel. I am so confused, I am just trying to figure one thing at a time." "At least treat me as a friend, like how we are, not as a mistake." "I don't think of you that way." "Then why do you treat me that way." He stayed silent. "Actually, I forgot, I have to go. I have to go to work really early, I have to meet Julian," I said my goodbyes, and brushed passed Barry. Trying to forget everything I felt for him.
