Alice decides to leave us alone, walking out quietly.
I can't look anywhere else but into his eyes to search for answers, and confirmation what he's saying is true and not just using his words well, which often was the case.
"I have a fucked up past," Ha, you think? "I'm not denying that. But if you won't have me then I don't think anyone else will."
"I'm sure there would be way too many volunteers than could fit in this mansion." I answer, the tears on my face slowly drying. I felt like what Daniel was trying to tell me was just pure rubbish. He knew that his face and body were carved by God himself and he was not modest about it at all.
I wasn't sure how I felt about this whole thing. I can't really penalise him for his past actions if I wasn't in his life back then.
Can I?
"Is she still here?" I ask, in a whisper. Even my own voice was giving up on my own mate.
Daniel nods, still crouching in front of me. "Alice has gone to calm her down, I think something happened and she's a bit shaken."
"Yeah I got that vibe too." I nod. "She's pretty." I admit right after.
Daniel looks up at me. "Not any more than you are."
"You're just saying-"
"Woman, you seriously need to wake up. Do you not see how beautiful you are?" He looks at me. He then stands up, pulling me up to a standing position. Unwillingly, I let him lead me to the big mirror in the room.
He stands behind me. "Look at your eyes. They're big and dark, but not as dark as mine. They're lighter so you can see the gold specs in them. Your lips I would kiss all day if I could, so full and even." He touches them with his fingertips. "Your hair is long and soft, it's one of my favourite things about you. And let's not get into the talk about your body. I'm not letting you wear a bikini anywhere because all you'd get is stares. You already do."
"Stop it." I give him a look. Every mate thinks theirs is perfection. It was nice to think Daniel was no exception, but I knew his opinion was less reliable than anyone else's.
"We're going to an event tomorrow night." He announces, I frown.
"Why? And where?" I ask.
"It's like a ball with some of the most important Alphas all gathering with their mates or very close family. I want to dance with you." He says and I almost choke.
"Well it's a bit short notice." I notice.
"Alice will come, Alex will probably be there too."
"Alright I'm in." I say, after hearing my two favourite people are going to be attending. It was enough to convince me. "What if my parents are there though?" I begin to worry, remembering that it's probably best to give them some time to process the information they discovered.
"Already checked the list of attenders, they're not." He assures. "Are you okay now?" He asks me, referring to the previous Myra incident.
"I want to be mad at you." I sigh, "But I know what you did in the past shouldn't affect me too much now... Except she's here right now and it's really unsettling."
