My heart sank.

Could this mean Nate had anything to do with this? I didn't want to believe that, but he was going to be coming to the meeting tomorrow and this could be dangerous.

I haven't spoken to Daniel about what Alice has said. Not because she told me not to - which was the case anyway - but because I wanted to find the right moment. I wanted to let him know, it's something I didn't think I could hide from him, however we didn't have proof that Nate himself had anything to do with it, it could have been anyone from that pack. This meant that telling my mate in the right way, at the right time and at the right circumstances was important; otherwise he'll probably make irrational decisions and kill him or something.

If I even told him at all.

I sit down to eat with only Daniel and Enzo in the kitchen, since every other entitled pack member was too busy to eat or have already done so earlier. This was the first time we saw Lorenzo since we came back, so naturally he was asking questions...

"So where's my lovely sister at?"

And asking about Alice was also naturally the first one. Daniel and I exchange glances.

"Alice found her mate." Lorenzo's brother replies. His tone was composed and casual sounding as his eyes were still fixated on me.

Enzo's eyes grow as he stares at us, surprised. "And why am I only just finding out about this now?"

"Because you didn't want to see us until food was involved." Daniel scoffs back at him.

"Who is he?" Asks back Enzo, almost in awe. He did look happy for his sister though.

"Garrett Jackson." Daniel mumbles so quietly and inaudibly that even I can barely make it out.

"Garrett Jackson." I repeat louder, giving my mate a flat look. He had to get over himself and his hatred for Garrett.

There is a short pause from Enzo's side as he doesn't say anything, just looks more bewildered but that fades quickly and is replaced by his signature smirk that was on his face more often than it was on Daniel's.

"Someone is going to get laid tonight." Is his only response.

After finishing our meal, we decide to go upstairs and have an early night. We would have an intense meeting tomorrow, trying to figure out what to do next, now that we have our allies. Admittedly, I tried to get Daniel upstairs because I still considered an option to talk to him about what Alice had told me and I needed time to decide if I should or not before we went to sleep.

"It's only eight in the evening." Daniel notices, even though he still looks like he's getting ready for bed as he takes off his shirt.

The amount of times that he has done that doesn't stop me from enjoying the view any less, but now I don't hide it anymore. There was no point because he was well aware of the level of perfection his body was at. I'm sure he stripped down in front of me so frequently on purpose.

"Yes, I know." I say. "We can watch a movie or something."

"Oh, I get it. You mean Netflix and chill for the night." He smirks at me, from a distance.

"Without the chill, is what I was thinking."

He walks closer to me, embracing me into a hug. It was nice to be able to touch his back, because every time our skin was in contact, it was still as amazing as the first time.
