"You're serious right now, Rem?" He asks so emotionlessly that I can't at all tell if he would be happy with the news or not.

"I didn't tell you before, because I wasn't sure. I'm still not completely sure." I explain. "But I'm fairly positive, and you needed to know before you left."

I almost don't get to finish my sentence before he smashes his lips into mine. That doesn't last long, because once he takes them off, he brings me into yet another tight hug that lasts another eternity.

"I love you. I really do." He breathes into my neck, his lips caressing my mark.

"You mentioned a couple of times." I smile, and I just already know he is also, at my remark. "So, are you happy about it?" I inquire, feeling like I already knew the answer.

"Of course I'm happy, how could I not be when I'm this lucky?" He asks, making me smile. I was still wrapped in his arms, and we were breathing in one another's scent to calm us down before they departed.

I look around me. Alice was crying in the distance as she was clinging to Garrett's neck while Maria and Nate were sitting on the steps to the house, Nathan's arm was around her as they spoke. Then there was Alex, who was with the remaining Alphas who didn't have mates to say goodbye to.

Conveniently, Alex sees my glance in his direction, and after sharing a smile he starts walking over to us. I also wanted to say goodbye to him, and exchange a few words. He was somebody I got used to very quickly, and somebody I didn't want to part for forever with.

The guys have left.

It was a difficult time for all of us, all three of us girls left behind in the pack house, sitting in silence by the fire. It wasn't even very cold outside, but it was calming and a good distraction, at the same time making the atmosphere a little more relaxed.

Myra was sent home this morning by Enzo who - as I assumed - didn't accept the news of her carrying someone else's baby very well. She finally told him.

"I can't survive this helplessness." Alice says, as she sits on the sofa with crossed legs and a blanket over them.

So far it's only been around an hour and we haven't said very much to one another. All of us had a mate out there we cared about too much. I had Daniel, Maria had Nathan and Alice now had Garrett. Their bond was already complete - those two didn't waste any time at all - so she wasn't taking this very well either, despite only been mated for a short time. In addition, all three of her brothers were out there too; she had a lot to lose so I understood her pain.

"This may take them days." I add, not even bothering to make eye contact with her. I was staring down at the flames in the fireplace, feeling very numb.

Alice gets up and walks over to sit down next to me with her blanket as she leans on my shoulder. "They said they will let us know as soon as they take back Martha." She says, quietly.

"And then they have to travel back to the Locke pack to find Nick. If he's even there; he may be hiding out somewhere else." I sigh.

"It will be alright. They have formed a large alliance, they will easily outnumber them." Maria joins in the conversation.

Her words were positive, but I knew it was only a facade. I could see the worry on her face and heard the weakness in her tone.
