What are they talking about?
One voice is familiar. The other one isn't.
I can hear them but I can't comprehend what they're saying.
What's happening?
I can't open my eyes yet so I tried to move my hand through my fingers.
"Ate, look at her fingers!"
"Oh my goodness! It moved! She's awake! Let's call the other doctors!"
By the time that I can fully open my eyes and see my surroundings clearly, Nurse Amy was standing beside me nearly on the verge of tears.
"I can't believe this! Serene, how are you? What are you feeling right now?"
I want to laugh because I feel like its been quite a while hearing her worried words about me but I find it hard to open my mouth yet.
She's actually more of a nagger than my mom as well.
Now that I think about it, she's actually like my second mom here in the hospital.
I just smiled.
"You do recognize me, right? Wala ka namang amnesia?"
I smiled even wider. Nurse Amy and her paranoia. I feel like I missed it.
Taking a closer look at her, I notice her hair has gone long far from her bob cut the last time I've seen her before my surgery.
I observe myself too. My shoulder length hair has grown to my waist.
"Why can't you answer me?"
"Chill, ate. Maybe she's having a hard time to speak yet. Afterall, she's been bedridden for like 3 years," pagsingit naman ng isang babae sa likod nya.
Napadako naman ang tingin ko sa kanya. Maybe the unfamiliar voice I heard earlier came from her.
She called Nurse Amy her ate. How did she get here? I thought Nurse Amy's family was living in the Philippines. Nagmigrate na ba sila dito? Since when? Has it been long?
But wait..
What did she just said?
3 freaking years?
"Sya nga pala, si Heidi, younger sister ko. Dalawang taon ko na syang kasama dito. You're just about the same age," paliwanag naman ni Nurse Amy.
Well, I don't even know how old I am now.
"Welcome back to the world of the living. I'm Heidi nga pala."
