Reina was in deep shit with mom.

Once we found her in the woods, sitting in a pile of her destruction, Mom got Wanda to put Reina to sleep for a few hours. Long enough for her to cool down. We took her back to the house and laid her down on the couch. I sat in the chair next to her waiting for her to wake up while the "adults" went in the kitchen to help mom make dinner. They were probably just talking about how they think Reina is out of control.

She's always been like this. Short tempered. One time when we were twelve she set my hair on fire for taking her doll or something. Wanda had to fix it for me.

But this is the worst time yet. She ran from us into the woods. About half a mile back in just a few seconds. We caught up with her to find her screaming in a bubble of her flames. It took a few minutes to stop and by that time mom was there.

Mom understands Reina, she didn't find out until she was 16 that she had the flames inside her  and by that time the only thing that could help her control it was the amulet from Canicus. Our demon grandfather. Who is surprisingly more humane than our shadowhunter grandfather on dad's side.

Canicus said that Reina would learn to control it and that she would not need an amulet. But she can't control it when she's angry.

I stared down at my sleeping twin and wondered how she could contain that much power inside of her. She was so fragile to me. Yes she was stronger than most mundane women and a lot of the shadowhunter women. But to me she'll always be my sister. She's older than me so I can't exactly say little sister.

Reina looks exactly like mom. Except for the blinding white hair. She has mom's plain hazel eyes, her white hair makes her eyes look more vibrant than anything else. We are opposites really. I have my mother's raven black hair, but I look exactly like my father. I do have his black irises, I've stared at them long enough to know that they look like black holes. I've been told they are "mesmerising" just by mother when she talks about father.

Reina and I are like yin and yang. Opposite but the same. Our appearance is the most striking difference between us. Now her power is much much stronger than mine.

It seemed I looked at her while I thought for a while because eventually I heard her say "Grayson I know I'm beautiful but you mustn't stare." I found her eyes open and looking at me with amusement as she sat up on the couch.

"Mmhmm I was staring at you because you have ashes on your face." I sat back and watched as she stood and looked in the mirror across the room to get it off. I didn't lie, she did have soot on her face.

She sat back down on the couch cross legged and looked at me. "How bad was it this time Grayson?" Her hazel eyes looked at me with fear. She thought she had hurt me again.

"It was... different, you didn't hurt anyone." She visibly relaxed at that. "But Reina, your power was so much bigger than I have ever seen."

"I know... I felt it." Her stare turned in the direction of the kitchen where we could hear the adults moving around getting dinner ready. "It couldn't stop it Gray, It was triggered by something small and then it took me over."

"Don't worry. Mom is going to take you to Canicus to figure his out. You will be fine Reina." I pulled her in for a hug, which she accepted. "And anyway it looked awesome."

We pulled away and she laughed at that remark. At that moment mom came through the kitchen door to announce that dinner was ready. When she saw that Reina was awake she rushed over to give her a hug.

"Oh my baby!" She whispered. "I'm glad you're okay Reina but after dinner we are going to talk about this." The last part was said in a stern voice as we all got up to walk into the kitchen.

We found Jace and Clary sitting beside each other and Wanda at one end of the table. Mom sat at the other end as Reina and I sat beside each other across from Jace and Clary.

Dinner tonight was my mom's famous spaghetti with salad and garlic bread. Everyone loved my mom's spaghetti and on father's day every year she made my dad's spaghetti which although was still spaghetti, it was different. A rare treat that reminded us of dad.

"Alright guys no one is gonna talk about what happened with me today. Let's just please have a normal dinner and forget it for now." Reina said as she spooned a rather large helping of spaghetti onto her plate.

You really gonna eat all that Rey?

Yeah now get out of my head Gray I'm tired and you give me headaches.

I did as she asked and got out of her head. We all knew that when Reina lost it she always ate a ton of food afterwards.

"We can't exactly forget but, we won't talk about it." Mom said as she passed the spaghetti to Clary. "So Clary what's going on with the Institute?"

Clary must not have expected the question because she had a mouthful of spaghetti but she quickly swallowed and pushed her red hair out of the way. "Uh nothing really exciting, there was a situation in Los Angeles though a few weeks back. A friend of ours that was a warlock turned out to be a necromancer and we had to ... fix the situation so to speak."

"Oh... interesting." Mom remarked. "Wanda? Heard anything in the downworld-"

Mom was cut off by the sound of a large crash. Everyone was on their feet and armed in seconds Clary with her sword and Jace with his seraph blades in each hand, Mom and Reina both had flames in their hands though mom looked more fierce. Wanda had what looked to be a whip but it sparkled with magic. I had pulled out two of my daggers from my sheaths.

There was an unspoken formation that we fell into Wanda me and Reina at the back. We were the youngest and the least trained. Mom Clary and Jace took the front and we all carefully made our way out to the living room. The biggest window was shattered leaving broken glass everywhere.

The living room was otherwise fine excluding the rather large rock laying next to the couch. We all approached the window and looked out. At first we could see nothing out of the ordinary.

"We should go outside to check it out." Jace whispered, we nodded and made our way out of the front door.

Wanda cast a shimmering forcefield around us. It was rather large so I knew she could not hold it up for very long. Our group stood on the porch for a moment just looking.

Grayson, look over at the woods just past the first line of trees. What do you see?

Reina voice in my head took me by surprise, but I did as she asked and looked at the woods. I met her eyes as mine widened in fear.

Watching us. Just past the first line of trees, was about two dozen pairs of glowing demon eyes.
