☆Jordyn's POV☆
~
After a twenty minute drive we arrived at a small diner. It was an adorable little place on a small pond.
"Wait, don't get out of the car." Tom said before getting out and hurrying over and opening my door for me. He smiled and held his hand out for mine. I laughed and took it.
"You're so sweet." I smiled.
"I hope you're hungry. I come here all the time. However, not in a while." He told me as we walked in.
Probably used to come with Kelsey, but I decided to keep my mouth shut.
"It's an adorable little place."
"Yes." Tom agreed as we entered the building. "Hello, ma'am. Reservations under Parker for two."
"Ah, yes. Your reservations for the gazebo out back. Follow me." The lady at the front smiled.
We followed the lady through the diner and out the back. I saw a gazebo right on the edge of the pond. It was beautiful outside. Not too chilly, and the stars were out.
"This is absolutely beautiful." I said in awe.
"You think so? Kelsey thought the same thing-"
He stopped abruptly. I bit my lip and looked down. Kelsey.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... it just slipped," he apologized nervously.
"Let's just order." I said, trying to avoid the conversation. I picked up the menu and looked through the entrees. A chicken and pasta meal caught my eye so I decided to order that. Tom went with a hamburger.
"It's really nice out, isn't it?" I asked, looking out across the pond.
"Yes. It is. Listen, Jordyn. You have to know that I have completely moved on from Kelsey. She has as well. Please believe that there is nothing between us anymore. I don't know why I said that before. You're the only girl I have my eyes on." He told me sweetly, reaching across the table to hold my hand.
"It's okay, Tom. I get it. I was just scared. I've never had a date before and I didn't know what to expect. I guess we're both at fault."
"I know you're being self conscious, Jordyn. But trust me when I say that you look perfect to me whether you're in sweatpants and a sweatshirt or a skirt and blouse. I know Nareesha and Nina forced you into that. And you do look beautiful. But you always have. Always will."
"Has anyone told you that you have a way with words?" I wondered, looking up at him. He spoke so openly and he meant everything he said.
"Well, I am a song writer... but no. It just comes naturally."
"That's a wonderful talent to have."
"I guess it is. What are your special talents?"
"Well... I can't read or write. But I love singing. I guess it's a little ironic how my stepbrother is a professional singer in that case. I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. No way my brain could be able to read piano notes." I explained.
"I play guitar. I won't lie, it's a bit difficult at times. But I could play and you could sing." He smiled.
"That would be really sweet. Thank you." I smiled back.
"Anything." He replied. I looked out across the lake.
I felt so carefree. I felt like all that counted was here and now.
