Nico woke up with a groan. He hated mornings more than anything else. The only thing mornings brought him was more misery; nothing more, nothing less. After minutes had passed of Nico rolling around in his bedsheets, he hesitantly got up, afraid that he would mess up and accidentally let his closely guarded secrets slip.
Yawning, di Angelo opened the door that led him to the real world. By the time his eyes were adjusted to the sunlight, he heard the influx of noise coming from the campers as they poured out of their respective cabins. Ugh, Nico thought as he walked in the direction of the other campers to eat breakfast. Living people.
At the dining pavilion, Nico caught himself staring at Will. Before he looked away however, he made eye contact with the son of Apollo, who winked at him. He heard a cough coming from the side of his table.
It was, of course, Annabeth Chase, the very perceptive head counsellor of the Athena cabin. He responded by doing what he did best: glaring. Annabeth, much to Nico's dismay just smirked. Flushing, the son of Hades stared at his plate.
A minute or two of silence later, Annabeth nudged him with her elbow. Nico grimaced in pain. With a huff, he said "Can't you see I'm trying to--"
"I think he's coming your way," she whispered. Sure enough, Will was walking towards him, a huge grin plastered on his gorgeously tanned face. That kid can't take a hint, grumbled Nico, walking away from the dining pavilion in a rather urgent manner.
When he finally reached the woods, he saw a golden-haired boy perched atop a tree branch.
