maybe one day i'll actually write the chapter that was supposed to come before this one, where will discovers something shocking about nico.
August soon came to an end, and almost all of the campers left for the school year. Both Nico and Will were a part of the few campers were staying at Camp Half-Blood year-round. The next few months, Will and Nico spent a lot of time together.
"Nico," Will yells, his voice resonating through the Hades cabin, arousing Nico from his deep slumber. "Come outside, or I'll come inside."
Nico pulls the covers over his head. "The door's locked," di Angelo responds, but his words are muffled.
The next thing Nico knew, the gorgeous and tall idiot was shaking him awake. (did that make any sense at all?) "You can't take a hint, can you Solace?"
"Nope," replies Solace, trying to wrap his arms around Nico. The son of Hades grumbled, but doesn't pull back.
.•x•.
"Nico," whispered Will during canoeing class. "Coach and Chuck and Mellie are coming back from Camp Jupiter today."
Of all the beings that could heal friendships two demigods, it was a months old satyr. The child of the protector Gleeson Hedge and the cloud nymph Mellie was quite the entertainer amongst the campers. He even made the Victor twins act civilised for a few minutes.
Both Nico and Will had unique connections to the months-old saytr. Will had delivered Chuck, something he never wanted to do again, and Nico had traveled halfway across the world with Coach Hedge, one of the many reasons of the trip being so the coach could see his kid.
Coach Hedge came up to Nico. "How ya doin', cupcake?" His voice dropped to a whisper. "Listen, kiddo. Frank told me what happened between you and Hazel. Don't worry about it. She'll have to come to terms with it eventually."
Nico saddened at the remembrance of the terrible incident. A week or so ago, he IM'ed Hazel about him and Will. It didn't end up well, to say the least.
"You like boys," Hazel had asked, her voice cautious. "Isn't that unnatural?Do you really like boys, or are you just confused? Or maybe you're just begging for attention?" Her nose was wrinkled, a look of confusion on her face.
Frank looked very awkward, not sure what to do. "Hazel," he started. "Um. There's nothing wrong with being gay. Maybe back then, when you grew up, people didn't accept it, but it's 2009. Nico's your brother."
Hazel stomped away, and Frank looked more apologetic and unsure of what to do than Nico had ever seen him. Then again, Nico wasn't normally looking at him with an expression of raw hatred and pure rage.
"Aw kid," Gleeson Hedge said. "Don't cry."
Nico touched his hands to his face. His cheeks were wet from tears. Will was looking at him with a worried expression on his face. Nico wiped the tears from his eyes and tried to smile at Will.
Chuck ran up to Nico. "Gelo. What wrong?" (apparently half-year old satyrs can talk, despite them maturing half as fast as humans)
"I have a booboo," lied the son of Hades. He rolled up the sleeves of his aviator jacket to show the young satyr his bruised arm.
Chuck kissed one of Nico's bruises and said, "No more owie. (remember bob?) Booboo gone." Nico smiled at the young satyr who was now hugging him and ruffled his hair.
"Are you okay," mouthed Will. Nico nodded, even though he felt terrible inside.
Or maybe you're just begging for attention, a voice in Nico's head said.
omgs. this chapter actually wasn't terrible!
