It is so sad that some people don't have any books in their house.
When I was in probably fourth grade, my parents took this survey at a parent-teacher conference. One of the questions said, "How many books do you have at home?" The choices were:
0-5
5-15
15-30
30+
I already had wayyyy more than 30 books in my house that were my own, and that isn't even counting the picture books and my parents' books, which the survey did count!
Now I probably have 200 books on my bookshelf alone. Maybe more. My parents have lots of books too, and we still have a box full of old picture books. We probably have hundreds of those.
I have always wondered why someone could possibly not like books. Has that question puzzled you too? I mean, I can understand why a non-nerdy person wouldn't like nonfiction books, but fiction? How could they not like being able to disappear into another world where exciting stuff happens and your wildest dreams come true?
It is absolutely amazing to be able to enter a different world like that, at least until the book or series ends and you can no longer continue the story or enter into a different aspect of that world. I used to think it was impossible.
Then I discovered fanfiction. 😂
