I'm shaking why did I do that? 😂

Okay, so there's this tree in my neighborhood park. And it's not the most ideal climbing tree... so what did I do? I decided to climb it.

I was gonna read a book while sitting in the tree, so I brought a bag to sling over my shoulder. And there were two trees that looked possibly climbable. I have tried to climb them before, and decided it wasn't worth it. The only good, climbable tree in the park had some of its branches chopped off so now it is impossible to climb. But now I have some slight experience in climbing trees because I do it whenever there is a climbable one. And I climbed a tree yesterday that I previously would have thought unclimbable. (I'm making that word up, aren't I?)

One of the two trees had branches that were the right width but somewhat out of reach. I tried jumping for them, and it didn't work. The other tree had a low-ish branch, but it was really thick and not ideal. I climbed it anyway.

Only after wrapping my arms around the branch did I realize that there weren't that many branches within reach. There was also a big spider, which prevented me from climbing until I knocked it off. There was one high branch that I could grab, and I did so with both hands. Then, my feet came away from the main branch and I swung above the ground. I didn't know how to get up, and I wasn't sure if I could let go and fall uninjured. But I let go anyway because there wasn't really another way down.

Oh and also, during all of this, an old lady supervising a few kids were at the park, probably just staring at me, the "reckless" teenager. (I'm really not that reckless XD)

Well. I hadn't won against the tree yet, so I attempted to climb it a second time. I got to the branch and my legs swung away, like before, but I swung back, wrapped them around the branch, and tried to reach another branch. Failing again to pull myself onto the tree, I dropped to the ground.

But stubborn me was very determined.

Third time's the charm, they say. I tried again, and this time, I managed to swing myself up onto the branch, gasping. I stood up and thought triumphantly, Victory!

Only then did I realize that this position was somewhat uncomfortable, and I had to try to go higher. I spent what felt like forever trying to figure out a way to move to the next branch without falling and hitting my head. Yeah, Converse aren't the best tree-climbing shoes- they tend to get stuck. Eventually, I gave up and went home.

I got many scrapes and bruises, but it was worth it. My battle against the tree is not over yet. I'm coming back when my arms and legs aren't as tired.

Do any of you have tree-climbing stories? Feel free to share them in the comments (*kind of just wants more people to actually comment stuff cuz what is the point of a randomness book if only the people you know in real life read it*).
