Owls:

If you have read the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, you will know there is a Pygmy Owl named Primrose.

So, I was thinking: What if there was a Hunger Games/Guardians of Ga'Hoole crossover? 😂 Every time I see the name of the character Primrose, I think of Katniss nearby.

Toads:

My grandpa was a baby, and Hazel was scared of him.

Okay, let's explain that. A few years ago, for Halloween, my grandpa was Willie Nelson. He showed his costume to us when we came to our cabin in the woods.

This year, my grandparents said they had a surprise for my family. We all went into the back bedroom and closed the door while they prepared the surprise. When we came back into the living room, I was the first to see it and it made me stop in my tracks and then start laughing.

My grandpa was sitting in an armchair wearing a huge mask about three times the size of his head of a crying baby, and he had a giant toad on his lap.

Not a real toad, of course.

So my dog, Hazel, growled at him. Then, tail tucked between her legs, she retreated to the safety of the kitchen. We all tried on the mask, and Hazel avoided us the whole time. When the mask was put away, she came back, wagging her tail, and laid down.

The next day, Grandpa was playing with Hazel, ajd he brought out the toad. Hazel was terrified, so she ran away. Eventually, she tried to sniff it, but my sister moved it, so she turned tail and ran again. What a scaredy-dog. I wonder if I would be scared of a giant plastic toad that was almost as big as me. I don't think so... but who knows?

Turkeys:

The turkeys were playing Truth or Dare.

I didn't even know there were wild turkeys at the Cabin. I had never seen them.

My neighbor at the Cabin visited to bring Halloween candy and told us this story:

She had looked out of her window one night at dusk, before we had arrived, and seen a flock of turkeys sitting around our firepit, some sitting on the swing-chair made out of a log. As she watched, the turkeys flew, one by one, into the trees and perched there.

Later, she saw them in our front yard this time. They flew, one by one, as if they were daring each other to do so, onto the roof of the Cabin.

The next night, their dare progressed to flying over the house and into the trees on the other side, which I think is pretty impressive for turkeys.

One night, she heard a thump on her roof like a bowling ball, and she and her husband said in unison, "What was that?" They knew it was the turkeys as soon as they walked outside and saw dark shapes prancing around on their roof.

She came to warn us because one night, they might jump onto our roof while we were here, and we wouldn't know what to think.

So, there are my stories for today!

¡Adios!
