#23 The Cold and Salty Truth

Branch's POV;

I look up at (Y/N). The smile that was once stained across her lips was lost over our boat. She stared blankly over the boat, refusing to even look at me. "(Y/N)." I said begging for her attention but she remained the same. "Do you still love me?" I uttered with a single tear slipping off my face. She turned to me and opened her mouth but nothing came out. Just then the I was thrown into the water. I opened my eyes and threw my head upwards and tried to swim up for air. The boat had tipped over. WHERE's (Y/N)!! I thought immediately. I swam around looking for her. She was gone! I kicked violently under the water swimming to the bottom. I spotted her crown sparkling on the ocean floor. I grabbed it and swam up, I was running out of air.

Your POV;

"Branch!" I yell and then get choked out by salty sea water. I was being tugged through the deep. I kicked at what ever it was that held my left foot. It let go and I swam up. I took in the cold oxygen and it stung my lungs causing me to spit out at least a pint of water. I coughed trying to clear my system of salty water. It was shallower and I was sitting on marshy sand. Then I felt a tight, wet, and cold embrace. "Oh, (Y/N), are you hurt?!" It was my mother!*gulp* "Im alright mom." I said hugging her back as if I wasn't about to get grounded for life. "Mom I...- No it's not your fault (Y/N), you were taken by one of Perenia's most wanted thieves." She whispered in my ear. "But....I am the missing..princess of Perenia." I said with a raspy voice. "Oh, darling we have to get you back to the tower, you're going mad." She said abruptly and put her palm on my head. "He's over there, next to the boat!" I heard a deep voice roar from behind us. I looked up and saw men or the royal guard running past us and swimming out. "Branch..." I called weakly as my eyelids grew heavier by the second. Then my vision went black. "I do love you." I mumbled.

I awake to the smell of my own sweat. I sit up and throw heavy blankets off of me. I look around and tilt my head. I'm in my bedroom? "(Y/N)." My mother sang and opened my door with a bowl of soup in her hands. "Oh dear please do lay down." I listen and look around. "What happened?" I ask with a shaky tone. Mother raised an eyebrow and set the bowl of soup on my night stand. "(Y/N), you were taken by a wanted thief by the name of Branch and he snuck you off to Perenia, the kingdom of flowers." A tear slid down my cheek. "The outside world was beautiful, why do you hide me from it?" I blurted and mothers face straitened. "People will stab you in the back just as Branch was doing to you." She got up and headed towards the door. "He loved me!" I said and tried to follow her but my feet would not move. I threw the blanket off of me and saw a large chain holding my ankles down on the bed. "He never loved you, he just used you only to get his colors back." She snarled and slammed the door.
