The Story of Hagami [Naruto Fanfic | Uchiha] [Completed]

15 | Awaken

"Hagami, would you explain to me...what happened on that A-Rank mission? You're Squad's gone so...what happened?" Shisui had asked her whilst their meeting went on. They had been talking already for about a half an hour or so.

Hagami averted her eyes as if the two were looking into each others eyes and her hand went up to her right eye. She hesitated to say anything and Shisui could tell she was biting the inside of her cheek. She took a deep breath, "My Squad...went up against the same ninja I went up against when I tried to save Itachi on his escort mission when he was younger." Shisui knew what she was talking about immediately. She had told him about the masked man and what had happened that day. And how Itachi awakened the Sharingan too whilst he figured out Hagami possessed it already.

"You didn't..."

"Ah, I did."

"A-Are you adjusting alright? Has your vision faltered at all?" Shisui turned around now and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"My vision is fine. But adjusting will take time." Hagami whispered. Shisui could feel her suddenly begin to shake. He had learned that awakening the Sharingan was one of her biggest fears but what laid on the Sharingan terrified her more.

"I'm sorry, Hagami-san." Shisui mumbled and wrapped an around around her shoulders from behind. Visions of that day came rushing back to her. She had blocked them out for a while but now they've returned, pelting her hard with every detail she saw.

Hagami, Itoru, and Kōtō was the three man squad that was sent out on a mission that was originally to travel to Sunagakure to deliver a message. However, everything went South the about two days into the mission. It began when a shinobi struck the three out of the blue. Kōtō and Hagami took priority to fight, having the best Taijutsu skills whilst Itoru was given the message to get to Sunagakure.

However, when the man revealed himself for a split second to Hagami, she immediately knew who he was. It was the masked man who had attacked Itachi on the escort mission that she had fought again. But this time, she was fighting against him again except he had a different intention. Kōtō and Hagami both didn't stand a chance against him even when they fought together. The masked man just evaded all attacks or stopped them with a hand and/or leg.

"Kōtō-san!" Hagami shrieked as soon as his fist soared through the masked man. "Be careful, he can make his body intangible."

"You've fought him before?" He asked and kicked backward only to have his foot hit Hagami in the chest. She coughed heavily knowing that his strike was chakra infused too, it was his specialty. She fell to the ground, coughing and trying to steady her heart.

"O-O-Once. W-When I was y-younger." Hagami replied and she got to her feet.

"Then you must know what he can do! Hurry up and tell me what he can do so we can go save Itoru." Kōtō snapped at her and used his arm to block the masked man's blow.

"He's intangible and make sure to watch out for Genjutsu. I have a feeling he's quite proficient in it." Hagami's voice dropped to a low level. "Also his speed. He has a few more tricks up his sleeve too. I didn't get a lot of information even though I fought against him before."

"Wait, you're that girl from a few years ago. You're the one who shielded that other Uchiha, aren't you?" He asked in a deep voice.

"Ah." Hagami drew her tantō and held it with both hands in front of her body. The blade was pointed up and she began to speak, "I won't let you do the same as last time."

"Oh really? I highly doubt that. The gap between our strength is still the same as last time. You don't stand a chance unless you use," Hagami didn't let him finish as she plunged forward.

"Kōtō, move!" Hagami ordered, she was the Squad Leader after all on this mission, and then slashed at the masked man. Her eyes widened a bit when she realized that that he had to counter with his own katana. So it's only for a set time. She thought and used her right hand to take out a kunai. She swung at him from the side and he leapt back at the last second. But not before Hagami could slit his clothing on his right sleeve. "You have a set time on this jutsu. You're no ordinary ninja either. You have the skill of an Anbu but at your age that's a little odd."

"You have very perceptive eyes." The masked man muttered. "And it's all the better to have your eyes." His voice raised into the one that she had heard night after night when her parents weren't around. Hagami's eyes widened and her guard dropped which allowed him to kick her in the ribs. When she looked up she saw the masked man holding his katana at Kōtō's throat. A panicked look was on his face but that was the least of his worries. His eyes begged her to get out of the area. "But they still aren't sharp enough. I shall help you on the way." He said just as the katana went straight through Kōtō's stomach. Hagami's eyes widened in terror and her body began to tremble slightly. "Oh, and speaking of helping, your other teammate is already dead too. He was a rather easy target too. Should I show you?"

Hagami screeched when a Genjutsu of his memories was casted over her. She saw how Itoru was killed, with a blade to the neck. When the Genjutsu was over, Hagami laid in the dirt, her eyes wide as well as a stream of saliva dripping along the side of her lip. She heard the masked man walk over to her and she could see him squat down beside her. He reached out to her head but she was paralyzed and defenseless against him. However, what he did was merely ruffle her hair a little.

"Too bad you couldn't keep your promise, but," his voice went from amusing to serious, "you did great. I hope you like that new power I bestowed upon you." He said coldly and planted her own tantō that he had picked up in front of her eyes.
