Chapter seven ~ The Confession

"Merlin's beard Hermione. Why do you have to be so paranoid?"

"Because you lied to him!"

"What do you mean?"

"We are not partners, Draco."

"Why not?"

"I-sorry?"

"Why aren't we partners? You know I had a thing for you at Hogwarts. I still do..."

"Then why did you end up Jessica Ash?"

"It was for mother. The Malfoy's have an agreement with the Greengrasses, too complicated for my memory, but I didn't fancy spending the rest of my life with Daphne, and I barely know the other one. Astria or something like that her name is."

"Astoria. Draco, you're talking about your future wife here."

"Sorry?"

"I've heard about the agreement. I may or may not have been researching your family."

"Really?!"

"Okay fine. But that was ages ago."

"How long ago?"

"Third year. That year was complicated."

"Yes it bloody well was complicated! I got attacked by a Hippogriff-"

"Which you were asking for."

"-got hit by a muggle-born-"

"Again asking for it."

"-and fell in love with a bushy haired girl."

"My year was eventful too."

"Try me."

"Three times I forgot to go to lessons, I was using a time turner right under the nose of the ministry, while Sirius Black was on the loose, Dementors were attacking the school, trying to prevent a Hipppgriff from getting executed, and punching the boy I loved in the face."

"..."

"Oh."

"Hermione, I still love you."

"I know."

"You do?"

"Yes."

She crashed her lips down onto his, sending warmth through his body. His hands snaked their way around her body, and they kissed passionately, not breaking apart until one of them ran out of air.
