Collin POV
"Get up!There is no time for you to sleep in," Ava yelled as the lights flickered on.
"Why so early? It's not like these beds are the best in the world," I mumble under my breath.
As Ava watches us waking up, she says "I hope you can get ready in two minutes, because today is a special day, and you do not want to be late."
Who and what is so special about today? Sometimes I don't even know . I took my time getting my bloody jumpsuit on. I really wish there was someplace to wash my bloody clothes. After being beat on day after day.
"Come on, you guys take forever." Bradley jokingly said.
"It is not like we are five feet tall like you," Morgan said.
Bradley scoffed "Hey! I am five foot four almost 5'5!"
"Let's go, times up." Ava barked.
I only got my base done. "I need at least 15 more minutes to do my makeup." sadly said Reagan.
Ava retorts, "It's not like you need it to live."
"Hey, hey now, is t there 7 going to be any breakfast for this fat kid?" Morgan asked, nudging me with his elbow.
Laughing, I waited for someone to answer, but no one did. We started to walk to the training center, and I really had to go pee but I was to afraid of going. Walking to the training center that day was the worst. It was raining and dark. The worst part was that we did not know the time because we were isolated. The other recruits talked about what we could do today. "Do you think it is that time already?" whispered Reagan.
"What time already?" I asked.
Morgan whispered in my ear, " This is when they choose who moves past basic training or 'doesn't make it'!"
Is he being serious? I know I am not good at fighting in the ring and shooting. Also not the fittest person here. How does this "chosing" get choosed? This kinda makes me need to pee more. I thought, scared to death.
"Collin are you ready to die," Morgan said laughing.
Bradley defended me, "Hey, he will not stop trying even though he is not strong, fast, or good at aiming, does not mean that he will be kick out, and"
Everyone started arguing "You're going to die!"
"You suck at Aiming!"
"Do you even lift?"
"No you!"
"BANG!" Ava shot her gun. "Okay everyone we are going into the training center. We will be running 5 miles, shooting, and take downs. Now today is Judgment Day some of you 36 will not be here tomorrow. Now get warmed up because General Griffin will be watching you today."
Hopefully the 5 mile is not first, because this will be hell today.
"First will be running. Then take downs. Finally shooting."
Are you freaking serious this is hell. "This is hell,"
"What?" Morgan said.
"I said nothing," I frankly said. Did I just say that.
"These are the rankings before the race. Last Collin, then Bradly, then....."
Oh, great I suck. I really need to try to not to die.
".... And in first Reagan. With that everyone go to the starting line." Ava said as a person walked behind her.
"Hello I am here to watch and say go. Therefore, Go!!!" the person said.
I ran my heart out in the first mile and was leading the pack. Then I "died" and could not run at all. I slowly went from the top 5 to last. Why am I so stupid. I cannot stop I have to get to the end. Slowly I got to the 2 mile mark, then the 3 mile. The 4th mile was the longest to get to. As I rolled over the the finish line Ava said, "What took you so long you are an hour after the last recruit."
"Well," I replied
"Well, we are going into takedowns now because you are a waste of time." Ava butted in.
"Yes I love takedowns ," Reagan said happily.
"This will be tournament style. Rank one will go against number 36th and so on." Ava commonly said.
Well at least Reagan and I are buds she won't hurt me.
Ava yelled, "1 versus 36."
We walked up to the ring and I whispered to Reagan "Will you go easy?"
She did not answer as the buzzer went off and we started to fight. At first I thought that she was going easy, but then he kicks me in the jaw and I blacked out. "Hey, wake up. Wake up." I got slapped "If you don't wake up you will be automatically terminated," the voice said.
It freaked me out so much that i peed my pants right there in front of everyone and General Griffin. The warm liquid made me jump and I got up to finally realize that I just peed myself. "Oh, that is a nice sigh." Morgan said pointing and laughing.
I sat wand watch match after match until Morgan and Reagan were the last two left. Reagan used the same move that she used on me to win the tournament. "That was fun to watch. And I have seen enough to chose who stays and who goes. Now the Judgement Day has started," Griffin said.
We all went to sit in the middle of the ring and he called one of us at a time to the side room. First was Reagan, then Morgan, and Aaron, they were all in and out fast. They were happy when the came out but could not talk to us on the pad. Bradley name was called next. He was in there for a while and Bradley finally came out and went to the other side then the rest of the people. Right after that it was my turn. "Collin please come forward." Ava said, and right as a gun went off.
I walked in the room Griffin sits in his chair and tells me to sit down. " As you can see, you almost have been 36 out of 36 every day, in anything and you fail horribly. There is really no reason you should go on."
"Please, please you can't do this" I begged.
"Oh, I can do anything I want." he laughed
I got on my knees and and begged for my life, and starting crying. I wiped them off with me sleeve. I rolled them up because they were so soggy.
