Griffin POV

As his sleeve rises up as he was begging, I notice this strange marking on his arm. I know this marking, I've seen this marking. As I walk back to my office I start to think about the Collins arm, then it hits me as I slowly mouth the prophecy. I enter my office and open my safe, I pull out the prophecy as I examine the mark. The mark from the image and the mark on Collins arm are both identical. As a young general you get taught about the chosen ones. We have had this drilled into our heads, but none of us really thought this could happen. I thought this was just a story with no real ending.

I call the rest of the officials. I leave Collins profile and the prophecy's profile spread out on the table and start connecting them. I can't believe this is really happening, the time has come and I will not let him destroy my empire. I will not let Collin ruin what I have built.

The officials walk in as I finish.

"What is this about sir?"

"We have found the prophet" I said

"What do you mean General Griffin?"

"We have found the one who can only destroy us"

We all look at each other with concern. I pick up the letter as it reads,

"Doors from the past

he keys open at last,

The boy with the mark,

will lead you from the dark,".

"We still don't know what that means Griffin."

"What darkness are we in ?"

They all looked around wondering what the letter meant, even myself was optimistic about it, was my ruling the darkness?

Later that night in my quarters, I was up drawing the symbol the same curves over and over till it was dawn. I could not get Collin out of my head. Ava can't know about him being the marked one. I watched Collin train through the two way glass from the training room. He was a weakling, no one to fear. Though he was no one I still don't have a good feeling about this. He falls down, but gets back up, he has courage. Courage is his worst trait. I call the officials for a gathering. Before they get here I ramble words in my head making out what to do what to say.

They enter my office.

"General it is a pleasure to see you this morning looking well tired"

"As well you" I said.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am perfectly fine, I called you all here to discuss our problem."

As soon as he says our problem Ava walks in.

"What problem?" says Ava

"Nothing, now what do you want we are busy?" I said.

"Oh, um, nothing." says Ava

"Ok gentlemen our problem is eighteen year old Collin Young." I said.

"Can we just get rid of him?"

"No!" replies Griffin harshly.

" We need him on our side."

"You all are dismissed."

I sat there zoned out, day dreaming about Collin revealing the truth, no one can know the truth, no one can see the truth, and no one shall hear the truth. I beep in security and give them a task.

"I need you to keep a close eye on Collin" I said.

"General, why? May I ask we do that?", says the guards.

"Because I said so" I said.

"Even if he leaves to go to the restroom follow him, if you think he is doing something weird tell me, got it."

"Yes sir!"

The thought of him rebelling creeps throughout my head distributing my thoughts and sanity. I must have him watch, or else I will deal with him myself.
