Chance:

That night, I tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep. All night, I though about what Emilio had said. A break from Tessa. I feel like we really needed it, but then again, i couldn't bear to lose the love I had for her. My thoughts were running through my mind and I couldn't make a decision.

'Fuck it' I thought. I was going on a break from her. I needed it. We needed it.

The next morning, I woke up with sun streaming through the windows.

"Ugh" I mumbled, trying to get up.

I tripped over something, still half asleep from my lack of rest the night before.

"Need some help?" I heard Anthony ask, a cough trying to cover his laugh.

I grumbled but replied with a yes.

"You look like crap" he noted.

"Wow thanks" I sarcastically replied.

I went into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror, taking in my appearance. My hair was knotty and in a mess, clothes crumpled, bags underneath my eyes, which were also blood shot. I sighed, quickly taking a shower.

I walked down to breakfast, where only Tessa and Ivan were sitting. I sighed as Ivan scrambled up from the table and disappeared somewhere in the house.

Tessa looked at me, her eyes pleading for forgiveness.

"Chance?" she spoke, in a voice that could barely be called a whisper. "I'm sorry. Please forgive me, it was a mistake".

I sat down in the chair across from her, running my hands through my hair. I bit my lip, avoiding eye contact with her as I said "I think we need a break".

I heard a sharp intake of breath.

"O...okay" Tessa stuttered, looking at the ground, tears forming in her eyes.

"I'm sorry okay? It's just, something we need if we want this relationship to work" I explained.

A week later.

It had been a week since I had was been on a break with Tessa. We still talked, and to be honest,  I felt like we were much better as friends. Anyways, today Tessa had called a Team 10 meeting. I had no idea what it was about, but I sure hoped it as good news.

I walked into the lounge where everyone was sitting, and Tessa started speaking.

"So... I went to the doctors yesterday" she started, and I saw worry plastered on everyones face. She was smiling though, so I knew something good had happened.

"My cancer... it's gone!!!" she exclaimed. "The doctors said it was a miracle, and it has never happened before."

Before I could even recognise what she said, everyone was jumping up, cheering, and surrounding her with hugs. Me included.

That night, we celebrated, by going out to dinner with everyone, and basically having the time of our lives.
