One Last Chance

It's so loud inside my head
with the words I should have said
when I still had the time.
Now you're gone
and I'm all alone
watching the sunset
we used to share every evening.
I hear your voice
every time the wind blows
I talk to the shadows
hoping you're listening.
As I drown in my regrets
knowing you can't hear me
I still call out your name
hoping you're listening.
A million reasons to get you back
a million reasons to not
a million things to talk about
so much to tell you.
Yet if I had one chance
to tell you something
one last chance
to talk to you
I'd pull you close
and say thank you.
For all the times when you were
the only light
in my dark cave
the only hope
when I had none
the only way out
when I was stuck in a situation.
For providing
a shoulder to cry on
and an arm to laugh on.
For all the midnight walks
and the early morning sunrises.
For making my life
worth living
and ruining it.
I'd hug you tight
and say goodbye
while my tears wet your sleeve.
