The Sparrow

Chapter 23

My body is thrown against a wall and everything is blurry. There's a giant hole in the floor of the lab and Natasha and Bruce are no where in sight. I struggle to stand and see Tony and Steve race out the door. I look around the lab and its like everything is in slow motion. Coulson comes out of no where and grabs my arm, he pulls me out of the lab and down the hallway that was crowded with workers rushing to get where fixing is needed. We enter the control room and Nick is missing. Coulson hands me off to Maria and disappears. I regain my senses and pull my gun out of it's holster.

"What happened?" I ask Maria and she's tapping controls on a board and shouting out commands to the agents dashing around.

"They're here for Loki." She tells me before walking over to Wes, a blond controls-man.

"Loki." I mumble and my eyes widen. I slip my gun back into the holster and pull my ear piece from my back pocket. I immediately hear all of the chatter that had been missing. Bruce is in the lower deck of the ship with Nat and he doesn't sound to happy, Tony and Steve are working on getting the failing engine back up and Thor is missing. I race to the room that held Loki and stopped at the door. I could hear talking from the inside, I once again removed my gun from the holster and looked inside the room. Loki had his back to me and his hand was hovering over the button that would release the glass cell that contained Thor. With out thinking I shouted.

"No!" and fired at Loki. All of my shots either missed or he deflected them, I couldn't tell because as soon as i had shouted he whipped around and stabbed me in the stomach. I gasped for air and Coulson stepped into the room. Loki's eyes widened at the sight of me and slowly lowered me to the ground. I coughed and struggled for air, the pain was unbearable. I looked up to Loki and I could see his eyes watering up. Remembering what he told Natasha, I pushed him away from me. I ignored the hurt look in his eyes as I struggled to look to Coulson.

"Step away please." He said calmly and Loki obeyed, standing and stepping away from me and towards the button that could kill Thor. Tears spilled out of my eyes and I groaned in pain. I opened my eyes as wide as i could, trying to stay awake. Coulson falls next to me and I scream as Thor's cell drops. The last thing I see is Loki leaning over me again before everything goes black.

"You said she'd be up by now!"

"I said she'd probably be up, not for sure!"

"She could've died!"

"You make it sound like it's our fault!"

"Our? Our?! Are you two a team now? Iron Man and Captain America against the world now is it?!"

"Would you calm down? She'll be fine!"

"Calm down? Calm down?! My little sister is in a hospital bed because of that bastard and you're telling me to calm down?!"

I was pulled from my sleep by three voices arguing. They weren't even attempting to be quiet. I slowly opened my eyes only to shut them again and shrink away from the brightness of the hospital lights. I tried to sit up and hissed in pain from a burning pain in my abdomen.

"Emma? Emma! Oh my gosh, you have no idea how worried I was! How are you feeling?" Clint rushed to my side. I looked at my brother in confusion and noticed his eyes were back to normal. I reached out and grabbed his arm and pulled him to me so I could hug him.

"I missed you Clint." I whispered, holding my big brother close.

"I missed you too Em." He replied, pulling away and pressing a kiss to my forehead.

"How are you feeling?" Steve asked, walking around Clint to the other side of my bed.

"Like shit." I say and Tony chuckles from somewhere behind Clint.

"She's good." Tony laughs and takes a seat next to Clint. I smile slightly, but then I remember why I'm in the hospital and my smile drops.

"Loki." I mumble, but Steve catches it.

"Don't worry about him, Emma. He got away but we know what he's planning. We'll get him, don't you worry your pretty little head." He tells me and I fake smile and nod, pretending that's what I meant. But deep down inside I'm wishing it wasn't like this, that he wasn't the bad guy. My fake smile turned into a frown as I realized the problem in the situation.

I had fallen in love with Loki Laufeyson.

A/N: yaaaaaaay! I updated! Woot! Woot! Okay, so, story time real quick. To @Peachy912 my Koda-Bear Batman is a boxer mix ^~^ he's such a cutie. Oh! And I got a boyfriend guys!! Aaahhhhwwww he's perfect, it's weird that he fell for someone like me but, oh well, I really like him >.< the end!
