Summer

Demi embraced me tightly for several minutes without uttering a word. I felt so empty inside, as though everything I worked my entire life for was over. She stroked my hair until Max's face peered through the crack of the door.

"Sorry Demi, but they need you on floor for interviews." he stated

Demi whispers something inaudible and Max closes the door.

"Baby, do you want me to stay here with you?" She asked

Raising up from her chest, I wiped my tear stained face.

"No; go, I need sometime alone." I managed to utter

She kissed my forehead and in a blink I was alone. Alone to face the darkness, and alone to face my failures. The message Ms. Finglass left replayed in my mind continuously. I raked my fingers through my now dampen hair, due to being in this non- insulated room.

I had to get this off my mind. For the first time in a while the urge to have a drink pierced my head. I promised Demi that I would refrain from drinking, but I couldn't deal with this sober. I stood and cleaned myself up through the mirror. The bright lights of outside the room blinded me. Loud chatter eluded from all directions. I felt lost in the herd of people.

I pushed past them and into the refreshment room. I searched for something that contained even a sliver of alcohol, but there was none.

Fuck, I cursed to myself. Walking out I notice Demi doing an interview. She smiled and laughed promptly after the interviewer asked her a question. Demi seemed so happy in life, why couldn't I. She peered over and our eyes met. Her smile faded and a concerned look began to form. I quickly gazed away so she could return to her interview. Suddenly, my body begin to tense up and a headache quickly arose.

I needed beer, vodka or something to suppress this piercing headache. Walking toward the exit, someone gripped my arm.

"Where you going Sam?"

I turned around and Demi stood there holding my arm.

Suddenly, my vision began to go in and out. My hearing became muffled, and I felt faint.

"Sam! Sam!" Demi's voice faded

Sometime Later...

I awaken with the sound of rhythmic beeping. My vision was slightly milky and I felt drained. I noticed a blurred figure sitting in the room.

"Oh my gosh baby you're okay." the worried voice exclaimed.

The figure quickly became apparent by my bedside. The smell of vanilla and honeysuckle , proved it was Demi. I opened my mouth but the moisture in my throat had vanished. Lifting my hand towards her, I noticed a long needle enclosed in my skin. I was connected to an I.V., and realized I was in the hospital. Panic began to swell in my body as to all the reasons why I would be in the hospital. Suddenly, you can begin to hear the heart monitor increase in pace.

"Is every thing all right." Demi questioned

I nodded my head in agreement, and tried to slow down my breathing.

A knock was placed on the door, and the doctor appeared in the room.

"Hello, Ms. Marino I see you have waken." His musky voiced filled the white lined room with color.

He glanced at the machines and then at Demi tightly holding my hand.

"Your girlfriend told me you had passed out."
