I poured a small cup of tea and rested at my kitchen island. The aroma of honey and lemon soothed my sinus cold. I have a interview today on Good Morning America, and I feel like shit. Naya came over yesterday to attempt some of her home remedies, but they didn't help.

Finishing my tea, I placed the mug in the sink and walked into the living room. My phone rested on the coffee table. I picked it up and noticed the time. I should be getting dressed. Tossing the phone on the couch, I walked into the bathroom and started my shower.

Summer

I crawled into a dark room. My eyes stung with pain. Turning around, I sat against the door. My knees drew to my chest, and I quietly sobbed. Why me?

I sat in the restaurant waiting for my parents to arrive. My feet nervously shuffled against the laminate floor. My fingers trembled in my lap. This was it, all or nothing, I thought. My dad walked in, umbrella in hand. His clothes were soaked with rain. The soft smile that pursed his lips, acknowledged my presence.

"Long time, no see! My Sam." he laughed

I stood upon his greeting, and embraced him. I haven't seen my father in almost a year. His face wore slight wrinkles, but besides that he looked the same. I gestured for him to take a seat, and he slid into the booth.

"The weather is terrible out there." he huffed

"Where's Sarah?" I asked

"Your mother was by valet, when I walked in." he answered " How have you been?"

"I've been good." I sighed

"Well, you don't call your mother and I in for dinner, unless something is wrong." he glared

His sparking blueish and grey eyes showed worry.

Looking up, I saw my mother trudge through the door. She was less wet, but wore more age. As she approached me, she seemed unfamiliar.

"Summer." She grinned

"Sarah." I replied

Her face looked as if she had some recent Botox. Her natural beauty, seemed to be replenished with false lips and nose. She was still slim as ever, and had a recent tan.

I took my seat and she sat next to my father.

"Sarah." my dad nodded

"Dan." she replied

My parents have been separated for about six years. They claim they can't stand each other, but never divorced. My mother stays in my childhood home, in Dallas, and my father lives in Austin.

"So, sweetie what are we here for?" my mother asked

" Guys, I can't just invite y'all to dinner without anything being wrong?"

They both answered in unison, " No."

"Can we at least order our food first?" I begged

I called over the waiter and she took our order.

"I missed you guys. " I smiled nervously

"So have I." my dad answered, "but you still never visit me."

"Nobody wants to come over to that bachelor pad you call a home, Dan." My mom pointed out
