Heaven. I was in heaven. Not the human one, but ours. The one I once called home, but I hadn't been there since I was banished. Now I was brought back. Returned. By the hand of the brother who once betrayed me.
"Gabriel."
"Lucifer, pleasure to see you after all this time." He replied in a calm manner with his hands folded behind his back.
"Why did you bring me here? How did you even know where I was?" I replied and crossed my arms. I must have looked stronger than I felt because Gabriel's facade broke for a second and his eyes revealed his uncertainty. But as soon as he blinked he was back to his calm, serious self.
"I know everything. I always know where you are and what you are planning on. You can't outplay me." Gabriel crossed his arms now and leaned against his desk. "But does that really matter now? I brought you here to celebrate."
"Celebrate?" I snapped back at him "There is nothing to celebrate."
"Of course there is. It won't take long and the last one will fall. Azrael already did commit a crime and now I can take her wings anytime so 'the apocalypse' will begin. All the other angels will fall. Only you, me, Raphael and Michael will be able to stay. You proved it. We can't lose our wings." He had a smile on his face. He was so proud about himself and about all the horrible things he did and was willing to do. Madness.
Then he added "You can watch them fall with me."
"Never." I shot a glare at him. I didn't have my archangel sword anymore - which he most likely knew as well - but like every other angel I also had a normal sword at hand. I concentrated. Then I was holding the sword in my hand. "I don't want to fight you, you know that, but if it's this I have to do in order to stop you then I will."
"I would never go down without a good fight - but how about a talk?" Gabriel was still calm, even though I was holding a sword. "I'm just doing what's best for us. We both know that father doesn't mind, even if we'd cut off each others head, but don't we deserve a better home? All the other angels, who don't care either, would be gone. They could live on earth and we could watch over the humans again. As we did in the old days. Just you, me, Raphael and Michael."
"Oh please. You mean yourself. It was always about you. You ripped out my wings because God loved me more than you! You'd do whatever it takes to be his favourite, but truth is you'll never be. You are just a naive brat." I spat the truth at him. I knew it was true, but so did a part of him. He drew his sword.
Knowing the truth and accepting the truth - completely different things.Within the matter of seconds we were fighting. Swords clashing against each other, but we didn't really try to kill each other. We just fought to show each other who is stronger and to proof who's right, but of course Gabriel would be stronger. I was backing off. With every step he took towards me, I took two away from him until I reached the end of the room and the end of my energy. My arms were getting heaving with every swing and my feet slower with every step. Now only a miracle could save me.
It was easy for my brother to make my sword slip out of my hands. "You are weakened." He uttered with his sword close to my throat. Without another word he pressed his palm against my chest and my eyes grew heavier within a second until I lost control of my body and slumped to the floor.
When I woke up my whole body felt numb and when my eyes flickered open I felt like I was in a movie. It seemed so unreal.
It was bright; the sun was shining down on my face and I came to the realisation that I was outside, back on earth. I pushed myself up to sit and looked around. I was in front of my house and Gabriel was sitting on the bench Dea's parents bought when we got married."why?...Why did you bring me here?" I wanted to brush off some off the dirt on my clothes, but I noticed chains on my hands keeping me from moving them properly. So instead I kept my glance fixed on my brother.
He seemed happy and at peace. He was so relaxed. "To watch. While you had your sleep I did my job - I took care of Azrael. It was a mess." Just then I noticed the blood on his still perfectly sitting suit and some on his hands. "Look." He exclaimed and looked at the sky.
He was willing to take hundreds of lives. Every angel in heaven was about to hit earth. They fell. And with that humans would die.
I watched them fall. This is what it must have looked like when I fell.
Then my thoughts snapped back to Gabriel, who was now holding a glas with a well-known and strong smell in his hands. "To our freedom and to a better life." He raised his glasses and then he took a big sip. His satisfied expression dropped immediately and his eyes widened."wha-...What is this?" He was coughing and covering his mouth with his hand. Pain-filled eyes drifted towards me as they shot red with blood.
"A miracle.", was the first thing I could think of and it immediately slipped from my lips. "A bottle of my favourite drink and the only drink that can make us drunk. I call it Wing Burner. Only that it's over due. It was one of those which I should have thrown out since months. It's poison - it's killing you."

I decided to go with one more chapter and then it's over. I could write another book but I doubt it. I might publish some of the sci fi I'm writing instead.
