I felt a vibration in my pocket. Quickly pulling out my phone, I pressed it to my ear, tossing my dirty blonde hair over my shoulder.
"Hello?"
"Hi Anna! It's Niall! Happy Birthday!"
His voice echoed through the speaker, and my heart quickened when I heard it.
"Niall! Oh my god, I miss you soo much! How's the tour so far?"
"It's great, like the crowds are amazing, but I just wanna be back with you babe" I could basically hear Niall pouting, my cheeks reddening.
"I wish you were here too." And I wasn't joking when I said that. Today is my birthday, and my best friend Niall wasn't with me. It was the first time since he was three and I was one year old that he hadn't spent a birthday with me. But it's his new life now. Something i'll have to get used to.
"Have you blown out your candles and made a wish yet, Anna?" He asked, rather carefully.
"No. I could never do it without you, Niallers."
"Of course you can. I'm right here." He insisted.
"No you're not." I grumbled, walking over to the kitchen to grab food. Just to eat anything, really. One of the many things I had common with Niall was my never ending pitt in my stomach.
"Yes I am! I'm talking to you right now! Just pretend that I'm your phone!"
I laughed, stuffing crisps into my mouth.
"Well let me tell you one thing, Niallers, you're very sexy" I tried to say, my mouth full of food as I observed my blackberry.
"I know" I heard him smirk. "But anyway, let's celebrate now! Do you have cake and candles?" He asked. I scanned my eyes around the kitchen, looked in the pantry and opened the fridge.
"Nope" I exclaimed into the phone, popping the 'p'.
"Oh. Well is there anything else you could use instead of cake?" Niall asked, a little sadly. I opened the fridge again.
"Well, I have a bag of apples, some mustard, a sock... what's that doing in there?" Niall chuckled. "Oh wait! We have chicken!" I exclaimed, and we both laughed.
"Use that!"
"No! That's silly! It's last nights left overs!"
"Come on, Anna! It's better than nothing!"
"Alright!" I threw the chicken in the microwave, observing the chicken turn around in circles. "But I have no candles"
Niall laughed again. "I have an idea! Just use matchsticks! You have that right?"
I opened the draw. "Yup."
"Then just use that!" Niall exclaimed proudly.
I heard the microwave beep, the aroma of the chicken evaporated in the kitchen. With my phone squished in between my ear and my shoulder, I lit the matches and stuck them inside the chicken.
"OK, I've put the matches in the chicken. What now?"
"Make a wish and blow the matches out!"
I laughed. My birthday cake looked so pathetic.
"I don't know what to wish for, Nialls" I pouted.
"Just think of something you really want. Something your heart is just dying to have."
I considered it for a second. "Well there is something, but I know it's impossible to have it."
"What is it?" Niall queried.
