It had been weeks. Weeks since Philip had seen his best friend. Weeks since she came out of her room. Weeks since he had heard the news that her mother had died. He couldn't wait any longer. He got up and rushed out of his room. He walked past his mother and ran to her house desperate to see her face again. He ran to her house and opened her door without even knocking. He slowed down once he was in and made his way over to Theo's room. He gently knocked and waited until he heard a faint "Come in" before he opened the door and walked in. He flinched at the smell and what he saw broke his heart. Theo looked like she hadn't eaten or slept in days. He walked to her bed and sat down.
"Theo..." he whispered. I stroked her tangled hair. She leaned into his touch and closed her eyes. He could tell she was in pain. He held her hand and they sat like that for a few moments. "I'm so sorry" she nodded and her eyes began to well up with tears. She shook her head and began to wipe her eyes.
"I'm sorry about the waterworks" she says trying to stop crying. Philip wraps his arms around his best friend.
"It's okay to cry..." She inhales deeply taking in his scent and relaxes.
"It hurts and I don't know how I'm supposed to feel or how I'm supposed to cope with this. I'm sorry I've been acting distant."
"Don't worry about it Theo. You just lost your mother, I don't blame you at all for acting distant." He hugged her even tighter. "I'm here for you, do you want to talk about it?" Theo pulls away and nods.
"I broke down when I heard what had happened. I didn't know how else to react. I freaked out and threw things and screamed. It isn't fair, she was so young. She had so much time to grow. To live but I guess she can't." she looked down at her hands. She looked so mad and upset. Philip took her hand in his own.
"How did she die?" he asked
"She got sick from an infection. The fever got really high and that's when we realized that it was too late. The infection killed her."
"Theo I'm so sorry" he pulled her back into a tight hug, and that's where they stayed. Eventually, Theo fell asleep but even then Philip still didn't let go. He knew his friend was hurting and really needed time to heal. So there he sat holding her for as long as she needed. She was his best friend and he was going to do whatever he could to make sure he would be there for her.
A/N Sorry its been so long and sorry this is short and sad!
