"Blaine! Wake up Squirt! You're going to be late for school!" Blaine could hear Cooper calling him but he seemed far away. He shrugged it off and pulled the comforter tighter around his frame. School wasn't very appealing. It would just be another day of staying in the shadows and pretending to be invisible. Or rather, being invisible.

Cooper called for him again so with a groan he heaved himself out of bed. Blaine was met with his younger sister getting ready herself. Natalie was quite feisty at nine years old considering she had lost both her parents. Jayden on the other hand was a bit more laid back like Blaine, but not nearly as quiet in public. Speaking of, he was probably filling up his five year old body with breakfast.

Mm yes, breakfast sounds nice. Food is a great incentive for waking up properly, Blaine discovered. Even if it's only cheap cereal or bread with butter. Beggars can't be choosers, right?

Blaine stumbled down the stairs, rubbing his eyes as they attempted to adjust to the light.

"Morning, sleepy head. Your hair is looking particularly dapper this morning." Cooper smirked at his brother who stepped into the kitchen, wearing a loose t-shirt which hung off one shoulder and raven hair which stuck up every which way, curling and knotting together.

Blaine stuck his tongue out childishly, laughing when his younger brother ran up and hugged his leg tightly.

Ruffling his hair, Blaine leaned down to embrace Jayden before moving to make himself some cereal.

About an hour later, Blaine had gelled his hair down into a more controlled look and had dressed himself in some of his more expensive looking clothing. He wore a simple black shirt with a red bow tie fastened around the collar and red pants to match.

He shouldered his plain brown satchel and made his way down the stairs of their flat and began his long journey to school. Cooper preferred him to catch the bus but Blaine knew that was just extra money that didn't need to be wasted on him. He was perfectly fine walking to school.

So another 45 minutes later, Blaine arrived at school. He sighed, looked down at his shoes and adjusted his bag on his shoulder before begrudgingly jogging up the stairs to the front entrance.

Mr Schuester stood in front of the New Directions, having just given them last minute notes on their upcoming pep rally performance. One of said notes was "I know you guys can and will do amazing! This number is a good choice and you have rocked it in rehearsal. Go move that crowd!"

Somehow Kurt doubted the rest of the school would give a crap about the performance. He himself didn't, but who could blame him? He had finally landed a "solo", which was code for two lines with heavy backup vocals. Their chosen song being 'Firework' by Katy Perry, a message was supposed to be sent on about how amazing you can be if you give yourself the chance.

As if.

"Alright, kids. It's time to go up! Remember to look involved as who knows? Maybe someone will want to join."

Mercedes was the first to speak what they had all been thinking, "I don't think so, Mr. Schue. No one would really want to join a group like us," she said while gesturing to the New Directions as she said 'us'. "But, we will try our hardest as always."

"That's the spirit! Now go up and let your colours burst!"
