Chapter 40: Chaos

I was laying in my hospital bed peacefully when all of the sudden the rebel alarms go off, perfect timing right? Maxon left earlier to do some work, I hope he's okay, I hope the kids are okay, who am I kidding I hope everyone is okay. I will gladly risk my life for anybody in this castle, except for the prisoners in the dungeon.

Doctors and nurses are running around frantically, moving in soldiers onto cots, when Maxon's number one rule is to make sure that I get into a safe room before him, so I'm guessing that all the doctors and nurses forgot about me. I feel so loved. (Sorry I had to put that😂) I try to get out of one of the beds and a nurse sees me. "Oh my gosh! We forgot that you were in here, we need to get you to one, I am so sorry your Majesty!" The nurse says apologetically "it's fine" I reply back.

The nurse leads me to a wall and presses a button that opens the wall. "Just follow the path and it should lead you to the royal safe room" The nurse smiles. I step in and the door closes behind me. I keep walking straight but I come to turns and I didn't get any directions. I'm going to die in here I think to myself. I turn right to see where that leads. I keep making random turns, I am officially lost.

Maxon's POV

I am in the safe room with the kids and all I have been worrying about is where the heck America is, she could be dead, she could be out in the battle. There are advisers pacing around the room and talking with guards to ask if they have found America. She could be lost in the tunnels....SHE COULD BE LOST IN THE TUNNELS........SHE COULD BE LOST IN THE TUNNELS!!! I am a genius! "Advisors! Guards!" I yell to get their attention "I think I know where Queen America is" they all look at me "Well tell us" one speaks up "oh right, I think she is lost in the tunnels" I say "wonderful thinking your majesty!" One of the advisors says "we'll get right on it"

We have been working so hard to figure out a way to guide America to the safe room but we can't figure an idea out. Then all of the sudden I hear a voice I know all too well "Maxon?"

America's POV

I start to hear voices and so I follow the sound, the voices are getting louder and louder until I find a button and press it, it opens a door on the wall so quietly and I see Maxon "Maxon?" I say to get his attention and it works. He looks in my direction "America?" He says and walks hurriedly up to me and wraps me in a warm embrace "I love you" he says "I love you too" I say back as I stay in his arms. I feel safe in his arms, I forget about what is happening around us and I just stare into his chocolate brown eyes for a while until on of the kids jumps into my lap.

"Mommy!" Amberly yells "inside voice" I tell her "sorry" she says quieter. I smile at her and give her a hug, and eventually the two other kids and Maxon joins in on the family hug.
