The Unexpected Visit

Finn was eating cereal on the table that morning. At the same time, he was reading a book as he usually does every day. This one was mostly about inspirational phrases and stories to keep the young man motivated. After taking that horrible chemistry test, Finn started getting worried harboring negative thoughts. In one more year he was going to be graduating and finally become a chemist, something he dreamt since he was a teenager. Finn didn't have a girlfriend at the moment and was not interested in one either.

The most recent one was named Rose. The pretty Asian girl attended college with him and surprisingly also wanted to become a chemist. At first, they were the typical friends until their relationship escalated into something more. He fell madly in love with the dark haired girl and gave her everything. There were times that he would stay in her dorm, sleep with her and wake up late together. Sometimes they would talk for hours until dawn. When they were late to class, both hurried there holding hands together. Even Rey thought they were the perfect couple and made friends with Rose. Then the time to meet her folks arrived resulting in breaking them up apart. When they got to meet Finn they acted as if he was a criminal, someone unsuitable for their daughter. Rose pleaded with them to accept the love of her life but in the end, they won. They threatened the girl of disinheriting her and cut any type of communication with her. Finn thought they were manipulative people and that their daughter was an easy prey. Having no other options, Rose broke up things with Finn and moved out of Chandrila forever. Finn still loved her to this day.

Rose.. I miss you.

Scratching his eyes first, Finn then stretched, yawned, and pushed his plate aside. As he was turning the pages, he then saw a couple of phrases that caught his attention.

"If you are not willing to risk the usual you will have to settle for the ordinary. ~Jim Rohn"

"Good things come to people who wait, but better things come to those who go out and get them. ~Anonymous"

Then a single one interested him a lot.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas A. Edison"

The last quote applied to his current situation. Failing was his main fear and Finn needed to realize that certain things couldn't work. It was all about trying to make things right. That let him pensive for a brief moment until...

"Morning!" Rey surprised him this time and planted a kiss on his cheek. Her hair was in a high ponytail and had on a black silk babydoll. "What were you reading that I took you out of concentration?" She asked in a slightly mocking tone walking to the kitchen.

"WAS reading," He said closing the book. "It's a book I bought in the library. Y'know to keep me motivated lately."

"Really, what's the name?" Rey asked sitting on the table and looking at him with her eyebrows raised questioningly. Her bowl was full of cereal and poured some milk in it.

"The Power of Now," he responded before yawning. "Is not that bad."

"Well, I could get some use of it too." She joked again shoving a spoonful of cereal in her mouth. "At least you are going somewhere in life."

Finn sighed, "That mentality again. Rey, what I do is not that easy, okay? I don't even sleep that well."

She had another spoonful of cereal and placed both elbows on the table. The brunette was unsure of telling Finn about her new 'job'. He was already disappointed in her for stripping and this would make things worse. Rey decided not to tell him anything. It hurt, though. Both remained quiet for a while. She then remembered how that arrogant jerk Ren treated her last night after basically taking her clothes off and seductively dance for him. That was how he acted toward her. No male client has ever treated her like that. He didn't even offer the stripper a ride back home. Didn't pay her either. All he cared about was his image and nothing else. Perhaps Hux was right, the man was full of himself. However, all of that was going to end. Rey already made her mind.
