I was at a hospital. I told Gabriel what was happening here. I was scared, I never seen my cousin so upset before. "Stephiene lets go inside." He didn't told me what was happening but I followed him inside where a sign read emergency door.
When we got to the counter where the nurses were I heard my cousin say, " Where is my mother at. Her name is Anita Garcia de Flores. Where's her room!" I was surprise, my aunt was here and I didn't know why. I started to feel bad so I tried to help him by holding his hand and hugging him.
" Sir your mother is in room 125. Do you want to know how she's doing?" Said the nurse. I respond back,"Yes please we want to know how she's doing." She told me that she was very sick. Her brain tumor was getting worst. She took us to her room. I was seeing pictures up on the walls of patients being happy, I knew that was a lie because all of the patients in this hospital were dying.
We got to her room, 125. We opened the door and there she was sleeping. I stared at her laying in the bed with pain, I couldn't hold it much longer. My tears were coming out. Even Gabriel's tears, he ran and hold her hand whispering in her ear that everything was going to be all right.
I walked to the other side of the bed, I grab her hand and kissed it. While tears were coming down my cheeks. We stayed there until her eyes opened. I need to go to the restroom so I asked Gabriel where is was. He told me, down the hallway to the right. So I went alone.
My head was very tired. I walked and walked and went to the right. I went to a room which I thought it was the restroom, it wasn't. It was a old mans room. I was so stupid, but I was concentrating on problems that I had in my head. "I'm sorry sir. I thought this was the restroom I'll go now." I said with a very nervous voice.
" No it's okay ma'am. No need to be sorry for, I see you were crying. What happen." I know I wasn't allowed to talk to strangers, but this man was old, he couldn't even stand up, I started to walk towards him. "Who are you? Why you here?" He laughed a little. " Well I'm Bruce Stickhead." I couldn't resist it, I laughed when I hear his last name Stickhead. He laughed too. "Yeah everyone laughs when they hear my last name, I'm use to it."
Bruce had a British accent. He had blond hair and was really white. Not to be mean or anything. "Now why were you crying little one." He said with a very old accent British voice. " I'm fine, it's just a family problem that's happening here." I said.
"Oh I see, don't be sad little one everything is going to be fine, just by seeing you, I know your a boxer. Isn't that true." I was surprised, yes it was true, I am a boxer. But how did he know. "Mmm.. Excuse me sir but how did you know that I'm a boxer." I was all confused about this. " Your on the newspaper, your the rank top 6 in California's state boxing champion for females." I couldn't believe it, I was on the newspaper with my picture on it. I told him thank you for telling me and asking for the copy of the newspaper and also for getting to know him more and I ran out to room 125.
I came rushing to the room all happy. " What's up with you, why you all happy kiddo." Said my cousin Gabriel. I gave him the newspaper because I couldn't talk since I was out of breath from running. He read it, he was so happy for me, even for himself we both made it in the newspaper.
He was rank top 3 in the United States Champion. UNITED STATES CHAMPION!! He was the top 3 in the whole country. Of course he traveled to different states the last 5 years for his matches.
I was happy for him too. Suddenly, my aunt wakes up. When we saw her we went up to her holding her hands. She looked at us saying a few words, "Don't ever give up on your life, your future, your dreams." She cut the sentence from there. Taking her last breath in front of us.
