I had a match coming up on March 16, 2012. It was February 23, 2012. I was training like any other day at the gym. Gabriel was trying so hard to push it, since our family problems he went from a top rank 3 to rank 7. He missed lots of fights, give him L's (Loses).
I was working hard, getting my rhythm together. I used the evergrip weighted jump rope to practice on my balance. Every time I jumped, sweat will go down my whole body. Making my body feel more comfortable to continue with my routine. Here is the problem though, I was wearing a Sauna Suit. This suit make you sweat like crazy.
Then I'll be with one of my coaches training with the leather mantis punch mitts.
If your asking that's me, no it's not me. Anyways, I'll always go run outside of my gym about 4-6 miles to work on my speediness so I can reflect my balance when I'm on the ring. To tell y'all, I need to lose 79 pounds when March 16 arrives. Yeah I knew I can do it.
It was March 15, 2012. I was taking a break for the day, because my family and coaches didn't want me to be all tired for tomorrow's match. Like usual I wasn't worry as much. Getting results from my opponent data, she looked like a very harsh competition. She only lost 2 match, but by see her information about the past few years she develop herself more.
The day has come, March 16, 2012. I was ready, I arrive to a huge gym wearing my pink and white boxing suit. This colors represented cancer meaning this match that I was going to fight in a few minutes was for my aunt ☝🏻️.
Warming up felt weird today. Inside me felt a different way, a way I never felt before when I'm going to the ring. It was time. Referee represented us like always, learning my opponents name which her name was Cristiana Barrios. Cristiana had a evil face on her, it was telling me something. A bad feeling about this fight.
I was in my corner listen to all of my coaches and especially my dad with the same thing," Sé cambia's todo a tu alrededor, dentro de ti todo cambia." This time I felt like those words weren't going to help me tonight. The bell has rang and this match had 6 rounds to be finish with.
I kept punching her but she didn't fell down. I tried to get my KOs back but they weren't coming out. When she punches me I start to bleed from my ear or even nose. I was looking like a monster when she'll punch me. The bell has rang and it was the end of the 5 round, only one more to go.
I was feeling dizzy. My eyes were looking in different ways, not straight ahead. The bell rang, time to end the match. I got up quickly and began to throw punches to stay away from her damaging me more. It happened. She did the most difficult move I never knew how do it. It was the most common KO move that can be done in boxing. It was the crossover to the left. Once that glove hit me, I went down like leaves falling from a tree to the ground.
All I saw was light. I didn't know what type of light it was, was it the light that was hanging from the ceiling or the light from heaven. I slowly closed my eyes.
