Chapter 11

As the events of that fight came to an end the three of you headed to Mustangs office to learn more about this Scar person. "So he is an Ishvalen?" You question Mustang. He nods. "Thirteen years ago a military officer accidentally shot and killed an innocent child thus starting the civil war which spread like wildfire throughout the whole eastern area, after seven years of this  Fuhrer King Bradley himself ordered the extermination of Ishval, and us alchemist to be deployed and used as human weapons to carry out the task." You look at him with disbelief and nervous feeling grew inside of you as you continued to think about this certain Ishvalen but you understood everything. "This is why he is killing all of these alchemist for wanting vengeance." That nervousness that was inside you quickly turned to anger after he said that. "That's bullshit!" Everyone quickly turned to you in surprise. "He can't just act like a messenger of god and go out and kill innocent people." Edward stood up and put his flesh hand on your shoulder as sign saying for you to calm down. You heard another voice speak and you turned to hear Maes Hughes. "This guy uses alchemy as his killing method even though he despises alchemy which makes him even more dangerous since he might not know what he is doing or what he is capable of doing."  he said and you turned to Edward and Alphonse. "So what do we do now?" Edward looked at you and smiled and turned to Alphonse. "Before we could do anything else to get our bodies back we need to get our arms fixed up and I'm the only one who can fix Al's armor looks like we need to repay a visit to an old friend." It took a second for you to understand what he was talking about and then your eyes widened and you had a big smile on your face. "You mean.." He nodded and gave you a big smile. 

{Time skip to next day}

As you packed your things, you headed out the door with the Elrics made your way to the train station. "I can't wait to go back to Resembool it has been such a long time and to see Granny and Winry too!" You squealed. Alphonse laughs at your excitement and Edward just smiles but also tries to hide the little pink dust of blush that is on his cheeks. At the train station you see Maes Hughes and Major Armstrong. "Hughes, Armstrong what are you guys doing here?" You question. "Well I was going to see you three off since no one else could and also I thought I told you to call me dad" He says as he tackles you in a big hug and gives off a big smile. You giggle at this and return the hug back. "Right thank you for seeing us off Dad." Edward and Alphonse look at each other in confused look but then Edward turns to Major Armstrong. "Major why are you here then?" Edward asks. Right when Edward finishes he question the Major tackles him with a hug while tears start flowing from his eyes. "I'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT YOU EDWARD ELRIC AND YOU TOO Y/N L/N!!" "The love that you had to bring back your mother and to transmute your little brothers soul."  "And you Miss L/n the love that you have to bring your older brother was just so moving" You laughed at how Edward tries to escape from the Majors' grasp but stop as he spoke up again. "That is why I will take responsibility of being your escort to your metal prosthesis specialists." Edward wasn't too happy or even the slightest bit happy at this thought but before he could say anything the train whistled for a final announcement that it would be leaving soon. "You three be careful and take care." Hughes says with a smile and he salutes the three of you and you nod and salute back. As you sit in your seats, you sitting next to Edward and across from you is Armstrong, there was a slight awkward silence for a few seconds before Edward breaks it. "So y/n how come you call Hughes dad?" You smile and look towards the window. "Well because he is like a father to me, when me and Matthew came here to Central the first people we met were Hughes, Mustang and the others. Hughes invited us into his home and him and Miss Gracia treated us like we were one of his own." He looks at you with amazement  and at how much you've grown as a person since the last he has seen you. As the train takes a stop to one of its destinations, something catches Major Armstrong's eye he sticks his head out the window and yells. "Dr. Marcoh it's me Alex Louis Armstrong do you remember me?!" The man quickly ran away before anything else was said. "Come Edward Elric and Y/n L/n." As the two of you followed him to grab Alphonse and get out of the train. You wondered what the hell he is doing. "Excuse me have you seen this man?" The major questions a few people You look at his book to see a nearly perfect drawing of the man from earlier. "Wow Major you can really draw." You say amazingly "This art technique has been passed down from the Armstrong family for generations. As the people took a look at the picture they immediately knew who it was. "Oh you mean Dr. Mauro." You all looked at the people in confusion. "Dr. Mauro?" The major asks. "Yup, he won't abandon and he would check on every patient, he uses a bright flash and then it is magically healed." The people point to where he lives and you all thanked them before heading towards the house. "It has got to be alchemy right?" You ask Edward. "I don't know but hopefully he might know something." As you reach to the door of the house Edward knocks a few times before opening to see if anyone was home. "Hel.....lo." As soon as he had opened the door a gun was pointed at his head and a gunshot with the bullet just missing him. "What did you come here for, are you here to take me back?!" The old man asks worriedly it was Dr. Marcoh himself. As the major tries to calm the him down he starts panicking again. "I don't want to go back just leave me be." As he continues to ramble on you try calming him down. "No sir that is not why we are here, we ca-." But again Dr. Marcoh panics. "Then did you come to silence me is that it?!" After the third try the major got annoyed and threw Alphonse at him. "ALPHONSE!!" You and Edward scream in unison. After that he calmed down and the four of you sat at the table to discuss. "Even if I was ordered from someone higher than me to research something like this not knowing it would be a tool for mass murder, it was truly a horrible battle an as many innocent people died, what I have done can never be atoned for, that's why I ran and took my research and came here, changed my name and stayed here to help people instead of harming them." All of what Dr. Marcoh said made you a little scared for what he researched but curiosity got the best of you. "What exactly did you research and escape with?" You asked. He hesitated for a few moments and cleared his throat. "I made the Philosopher's Stone." Your eyes widened and you looked at Edward to see he was just as shocked as you. "You have the stone?!" Edward quickly asked right after Marcoh stood up to get the stone itself. He came back with a vial of red liquid. "But how is that the stone it is a liquid?" You said in confusion. He opened the vial and spilled the red liquid onto the table as it stayed in its liquid form but not splattering onto the table. Everyone was shocked even Edward reached out to poke it a few times. "This is the unfinished product of the stone." You looked at Edward and smiled, he smiled back as if he knew what you were thinking. "Mr. Marcoh can you please show me the research files you took?" You asked with hoped filled inside of you. He was shocked. "Major who is this girl?" Major looked at him and sighed. "Her and the boy are state alchemists." Marcoh was shocked to these children are state alchemist. "I'm sorry but I can not show you these files." Your happiness turned to disappointment as he denied your request. "But why not?!" You fought back. "This is the devil's research once you find out you will see the face of hell itself." This made Edward angry. "We've already seen Hell!" Once he said that it triggered a memory of when you tried to transmute your older brother. As all of you made your way back to the train station you kept remembering what Edward said to Dr. Marcoh. "We've already seen Hell!"  You thought of how badly this research could've been until you were snapped out of your thought when Edward and the major started talking. "Are you sure you are fine with this you could've take the stone by force." Edward nodded "I really wanted it but then I remember all those people he has cured, we'll just look for a different way right?" "Yup!" Alphonse agrees and you smile and nod." "What about you Major are you going to tell people about Mr. Marcoh back at central." You question him. "I only met a man by the name of Mauro." You smiled at this and out of the corner of your eye you saw a familiar man, you tug on Edwards arm to get his attention. "Hey Ed isn't that Mr. Marcoh?" He nods and stands up and walks toward the old man bringing you with him. "These are where the research files are hidden if you don't regret finding out the truth look there." He hands Edward a small envelope. "Try to find the truth hidden within the truth." Edward looks at the envelope and you look at Marcoh walking away. "I hope you find what you two are looking for." And he waves off. "You and Edward bow while the Major salutes him and the three of you get on the train with Alphonse. "So Ed what does the note say?" you ask him as you walk to your seats. He opens the letter and all you two find is a paper that says "National Central Library, 1st branch." You smile and look at Edward. "Looks like we know where to check next." He nods and smiles back to you. After a few minutes pass Edward focused in his thoughts while he looks out the window, your eyes start to get droopy and you let out a big yawn. He looks to you sleepy and a little cold and lets out a smile laugh. He takes off his red cloak and hands it to you. "Y/n why don't you rest for a bit." You nod and put on the cloak. All you could think is how warm it was not even noticing you blushed a little as you fell asleep right on Edwards shoulder not even noticing him looking away from you while madly blushing and smiling until you got to Resembool. The Major saw this and chuckled and Edward quickly gave a glare to him. "W-what's so funny?" Edward whispered trying not to wake. "Forgive me Edward Elric but what is your relationship with Miss L/n?" Once the major said relationship Edward blushed even harder than before. He cleared his throat and tried to speak properly. "Well um we knew each other since we were kids we would always play together, we were practically inseparable." He looks towards you and smiles but the smile faded away slowly. "But when Al and I left so I can get state certification that is probably when she and her brother left too and we never saw each other after that except now, when we reunited me and Al were so happy." But the smile came back to his face when he felt you latch onto his arm and hugged it. The major watched as Edward slowly fell asleep on your head and he knew that this wasn't going to stay just a friendship as he saw the way Edward looked at you. It was going to be bigger than that.
