Don't Let Me Go

Night time had come. Everyone lay in their beds, the guys in their beds, and the girls in their dorms.

I'm the guys's dorm, no one spoke,
Leo, Jason, Frank and Nico lay wake, and Austin was the only one asleep.

Leo stared out the window wondering if these guys were actually his friends.
Everyone that Leo ever let get close to him had ended up leaving him.

No one ever stays

They all get sick of me one way or another

What's the point

Why me?

Nico lay in his bed, staring at the top bunk in which Jason was awake in. Nico was thinking about the last fight he had with his father.
He never really did have a bond with his father, things between them had gotten so much more harder with Bianca and Mama gone.
His eyes started to tear up, he couldn't think of that now. No. He couldn't.

No, Nico thought, I can't get into it, forget it, he thought, but the night that happened . . . The voices still rang in his ears . . . The threats. All because of that idiot.

His own father didn't believe him. Memories of that night flashed in his mind,
"Shh, don't tell anyone . . ."

"Quit your screaming!"

"Enough or I'll send your ass to the hospital!"

Nico didn't even realize the tears that were streaming down his face. Dad had lied to Hazel, the real reason they had to switch schools, was because of that stupid night. Of course the school didn't want the bad publicity, so . . . Switched schools.

Hazel didn't know about it. Who knows if Nico's Dad put aside his stupidity and believed Nico. But he couldn't focus on that night.

New school.

New beginning.

Jason lay awake in his bed, worrying about his Mom.

How's she gonna get her food

Who's gonna make it

Who's gonna put money on the table

Who's gonna take care of her

She can't just send us away

She needs us

Even if she doesn't know it

Finally he fell asleep out of frustration. But before he closed his eyes, he could've down he heard a choked sob from the bunk underneath him.

Nico.

But his eyes betrayed him as they closed dragging him to sleep.

Frank stared at the ceiling,
How could I've been so stupid, Frank thought. Does she even know how to work the microwave, he thought puzzled.

Then he imagined her yelling at him for thinking that,
"Frank Zhang I am not stupid, ugh, you people these days are entirely clueless, honestly!"

Yup. She'd definitely say that.

Still, he was worried for his grandmother. He'd spent nearly the entire night wondering about it till he drifted of to sleep.

Now, only Leo and Nico lay awake in their beds. Unable to sleep. Their memories still haunt them. Leo was afraid to sleep, in fear of seeing his dead mother again.
